Well, these forums are proving to be pretty dead, but there is one more post/feedback/suggestion/discussion I would like to open before going back to the shadows.

I had this idea for a very long time, and the introduction of evolved mode kinda makes it less viable I think. But I always thought arcanist is hated by the developers for no reason because they decided that it's a problem, I don't think it's a problem.

First thing is, you could introduce new jobs to existing classes without needing to create a whole new gear for them. I'm gonna try to give an example for every class.
So the idea is that instead of making new gear and weapons, you just let jobs use the exact same gear and weapons and simply give an option to use a different ability kit.

Gladiator - instead of a paladin, you could make a knight, or a... well a gladiator (like the phantom gladiator, sadly shares the name already). You just take the magic out of paladin and replace it with more shield abilities and more dedicated swordmanship. Make a very clear distinction between the two, one being a physical tank with a shield the other a magical tank with a shield.

Marauder - this is the more difficult one, the job that could go here beside warrior could be berserker, or viking, but I'm not exactly sure how you would differentiate between them in their ability kit.

Lancer - this one is very simple and one I would really like to see as a new maiming job, be it from lancer or just as a new job in 9.0 or something, and that's valkyrie. One thing that kinda breaks it is that valkyrie is usually more of a tank job than a dps job, but I'm not here to fully design everything, I'm just giving out ideas.

Archer - another very simple one and one I would also appraciate as a bard player, and that's just ranger. I would love to see bard regain its identity as buffer and song player while you can take the dots and make that an identity of ranger instead. Bard already feels more like a ranger than a bard, and splitting the job completely between the two would be nice.

Rogue - another very simple one, keep ninja as the ninjutsu user and make it more focused on the magic side of ninja, and introduce Thief as a new dual sword job that is more focused on acrobatics and poisons. I know, dots are removed from the game because squeenix has no idea how to do dots... but that's not an excuse to remove a whole playstyle that some people enjoy, rather than constantly removing things, we should want proper evolution from squeenix, and dot jobs is a hole they created by gutting every single dot job we had so far.

So I keep hearing how xiv forums are absolutely worthless and if people want to voice their opinions they need to use twitter because no one reads forum feedback and if they do they just delete the forum post instead... so here's my attempt at seeing what happens when I try to post something on the forums, starting with limited jobs.

First, let's look at beastmaster. To me, beastmaster feels like exactly everything that is wrong with job design in xiv right now and how I hope evolved mode will not be anything close to this in evercold. More importantly, beastmaster doesn't feel like a limited job at all, it feels like level 50 dragoon with barely noticable "pet" gimmick. And what I personally want from limited jobs is to completely disregard all that the game is and create their own special kind of content.
Ever since blue mage was announced I hoped to get a beastmaster, and I wrote about it several times in random surveys that squeenix sends out. And what I wanted is a completely separate system where you play an actual monster collecting jrpg, with turned based combat, akin to pokemon or wow pet battles (but I would like it to be a lot better than pet battles, because that thing blows xD). With endgame systems that allow for pvp and tournament style pve. Like the crucible could have been a sort of "elite four" of the game that are randomly generated and you need to bring your team to get through them and adapt your strategy accordingly.
But current crucible is probably the most boring and annoying type of content ever introduced in this game, I would rather play heavensward diadem again.
And the most heartbreaking thing is, we have an interview that said that beastmaster was originally meant to have turned based combat, but then leadership changed to mister ozma and because he has no idea how to design turned based combat he just scrapped the whole thing and made his own combat instead... and quite frankly he is not good at it. He might be good at designing bosses, but unsurprisingly enough that does not translate to job design at all.
I don't think beastmaster can be salvaged unless they pull a beastmaster reborn. They should have just cancelled the whole job and give us the blue mage update instead. But I will silently hope that we might see some big changes eventually.
And to add in my personal experience, I did enjoy leveling and collecting all 50 beasts, but I did not finish the job quests because I absolutely can't be arsed to get through the crucible grind, that entire thing was a mistake and massive waste of resources and development time.

I admit the crucible is fun and I kind of enjoy grinding for the rewards as a long-term goal. However, what was most fun was the beginning, capturing beats, doing content with other people, but once I get all the beasts... what else is left to do with other people? Probably helping others get theirs, but eventually there will be nothing on party finder for that purpose. People can rely on one or two friends to unsync everything anyway.
I wish there were more things to do on the overworld besides capturing some beasts. It was really nice to see people walking around with their companions, but that was over after the first week. There's no motivation to go around as a beastmaster besides roleplaying or annoying people blocking NPCs with huge monsters.
I know there are people who REALLY wanted a pet job after the summoner dreams were crushed, but what do we even do as a community when the whole endgame of Beastmaster is solo content?
Can we get some FATE achievements? Maybe a weekly target overworld boss?
I'd love to see something similar to The Hunt, getting extra rewards for killing a B-rank mark as a Beastmaster, or we go around in groups trying to tame a level 50 notorious monster that went berserk. How about an exclusive BST FATE that unlocks after completing normal FATEs in the area as Beastmaster?
There are so many ways we could do something fun with what already exists, with minor adjustments and updates to the current systems, like the FATE thing I mentioned. I don't think that would require too many resources or time from the developer team.
I was waiting for so long for this job to release and I'm so sad and disappointed about how it came out. Too grindy, not very casual-friendly, too short-lived and too solo-focused.

Beastmaster/Crucible of the Unbroken : Great Content, but Several Adjustments needed

Overall, I really enjoy Beastmaster. I find the job dynamic and fun to play, and the Crucible of the Unbroken is interesting content that clearly had a lot of work put into it. Personally, I enjoyed reaching Legendary ranks, getting all my beasts to rank 25, farming the different items and gear, and gradually learning how to play the job more effectively.

That said, I think several adjustments would greatly improve the experience.

Beastmaster requires us to process a huge amount of information at once: 50 beasts with different abilities and characteristics, enemy weaknesses, casts, beast HP, which beast is currently tanking, items obtained during the run, and so on. I enjoy this depth, but the amount of information to learn and manage can quickly become overwhelming.

The Bestiary filters could also be improved. I would like multiple filters to work together. For example, if I select Fire + Blunt, I want to see beasts that meet both criteria, rather than every Fire beast mixed together with every Blunt beast. This would make preparing a team much easier.

There are also several quality-of-life improvements I would like to see in the Crucible. It should simply be impossible to start an encounter without selecting any beasts. I would also like the option to forfeit directly from the beast-selection screen before entering battle. Finally, adding a **“Restart”** option alongside Suspend and Forfeit would make repeated attempts much smoother, instead of having to leave the Crucible and enter again every time.

As a console player, I also think some Beastmaster actions could be consolidated to reduce hotbar bloat. For example, the basic combo could potentially use a single button. Tempered Release could perhaps share the Battlehorn button instead of requiring another hotbar slot.

I also question whether Borrow and the resulting Beast Mode action really need to occupy two separate buttons. In my experience so far, I have never needed to use the borrowed action and then immediately Borrow again simply to change it. Consolidating some of these actions would free up valuable hotbar space for abilities such as Rally and Rallying Cheer.

Continued in the second post.
