We're the Sharlayan Book Club: a fellowship, cross-world linkshells, and Discord server for Final Fantasy XIV players who love to read. We've been around since 2023, started on Crystal, and have grown to include members across NA and EU data centres.

We're launching our first seasonal reading programme: two coordinated reads per season, one fiction and one non-fiction, each chosen and led by a member volunteer. Our first season pairs Before the Coffee Gets Cold (Toshikazu Kawaguchi) with The Order of Time (Carlo Rovelli) — quiet, thoughtful books that we hope will inspire interesting discussion. The programme is light-touch; follow one track, both, or neither.

Beyond the seasonal reads: general book chat, FFXIV lore and theory, language learning channels (native or near-native speakers of six languages among us), and a community of writers, artists, game developers, and other creatives. We have occasional giveaways and meet up for impromptu content when the mood strikes. Future possibilities could include a Pecha Kucha night or an FFXIV TTRPG campaign.
