Do you have a SE NA account, live overseas and having payment issues due to transfer?

    Hello fellow players,

Have you tried almost everything and you’re at the point of either quitting Final Fantasy XI or opening up an account with a financial institution in NA? Before you do so, have a read of my story. I have a Square Enix NA account and moved overseas years ago. When I found out Square Enix was mentioning the transfer of the PlayOnline ID to a Square Enix account I wasn’t thrilled about it just like many of us, because I had a bad feeling about my Square Enix NA account not being supported by any of the payment options. Months went by but then the end of September drew near and I had to make a decision. I followed the Step-by-Step Transfer Walkthrough from Square Enix till I got to the point of Payment method selection. I went for ClickandBuy. I signed up with ClickandBuy but when I selected ClickandBuy as a payment option a ClickandBuy window popped up and it said that the offer was not valid for the country of origin. Ok. ClickandBuy is a no go. What about Crysta…. it is an option… but I already know for a fact that Crysta is not supported in the country I’m living. However my Square Enix account does give me the option because of the fact that I have a Square Enix NA account. I decided to go for Crysta for now as a payment method because ClickandBuy wasn’t gonna work for me either way and continued with the Step-by-Step Transfer Walkthrough just to get the Transfer PlayOnline ID transfer out of the way. I read up online about my problem and found out that you can pay for Crysta with PayPal through UltimatePay. Since it was my only option left I decided to give it a try and I signed up with Paypal using my local Credit Card. On my Square Enix Account I selected the option Add Square Enix Crysta. I picked the amount of Crysta’s I wanted to add to my Square Enix account and selected as payment method UltimatePay. A window loaded up and I selected PayPal. I logged onto my PayPal account and after I agreed with the amount of Crysta’s I selected earlier and the amount due I hit okay. The payment went through!!! Soon after, I got a confirmation e-mail from UltimatePay about my payment and another from Square Enix that the Crysta’s had been added to my account.

    Hope this helps.

    Marrim,

While this is the Technical Support forum, and your post is in regards to account and billing matters, we will leave it up to ensure that other players have access to this information.

To clarify on what Marrim said, with the changeover to the SQUARE ENIX Account Management system, all billing for FINAL FANTASY XI is handled through that system, and its payment options. There are two options available for billing on a month-to-month, reoccurring basis; direct billing via Click and Buy, or payment via SQUARE ENIX Crysta.

SQUARE ENIX Crysta is not available in all regions, however where it is available, it can be purchased via Click and Buy, or PlaySpan. Both options allow for a number of different payment methods to be used (Visa, Mastercard, Discovery, American Express, PayPal, etc. Available options differ by region, please contact Click and Buy or PlaySpan directly for more information.)

Because billing is based on what is available in your region, it is important that when creating a SQUARE ENIX Account, you select your correct region, as this cannot be changed once it has been selected.

We hope this information is helpful to all players.

why do they not have a US based billing

I don't mind changing the billing method but i do mind being charged an extra .11 per account per month because of international charges. why don't you just set up a billing system for U.S. based accounts, it would make my life easier.
