    PUP Ability Idea: Body Switch

    I was just thinking to myself..what would it be like to actually become the puppet from a new ability and so came this idea:

    Job Ability: Body Switch
    *Player becomes a puppet until Automaton/Player dies, the ability Return is used(see below) or the automaton is deactivated.
    *When used, the player will take control of the Automaton and be able to move around and perform actions that the automaton has access too.
    *This in turn would leave the player defenseless, but allows more control of the automaton when needed.
    *Ability could possibly be used every 5 minute to swap bodies

    Pet Command: Return
    *Returns the master back into it's own body.
    *Return can be used any time the body is swapped with the Automaton.

    Well, that's my idea.

    This was suggested in an older thread, I think the general opinion was no. People like the idea of being in more control of their automaton but they don't want to give up their power over pup. What this thread will lead into is another debate about how broken our AI is and needs adjusting.

    Yeah, belive it or not, it's already been suggested. The idea is cool but the spirit behind it isn't- the automaton should simply act better, we shouldn't have to "take it over" for it to perform as expected, and losing control over your character leaves you vulnerable.

    I saw that there were similar threads, but mine was a tad different although in the same idea state of taking control of the automaton.

    I wouldn't have suggested it if the whm automaton didn't heal status elements over curing me or if the blm automaton didn't spam aspir over nuking when it has 800+ mp and other nuking spells to use besides it's first nuke. The basics of a whm players is cures>all and blm nukes>mp...otherwise those two, taking control of the ranger automaton to shoot every 5-6 seconds like an actual ranger does over 20 seconds would be much better. I can't think of any problems with the Valoredge frame though.

    Also, I know about the attachment Drum Magazine that reduces ranged attack delay on the automaton to a maximum of 12 seconds, but keeping 3 wind maneuvers up for it without overloading for an entire fight is nearly impossible and 12 seconds still doesn't cut it to me.

    What about Direct Commands?

    The player opens a menu on the automaton (maton cannot be in combat), where you can tell it to perform certain tasks (like Heal me!") but also to disable/enable certain behaviours (like casting status cures or certain elemental spells, or not using a particular weaponskill). Making changes to the behaviour would increase decission making time, unless... (*drumroll*) you equip a Tactical Processor!

    I always thought that there should be a menu (similar to the command menu to turn off certain ws's on our npc's) that would allow us to set certain commands and take others out. Maybe leave it for a higher lvl job ability. Maybe called something like "Program" or "Tactical Reboot" or something along that line.

    Hence why I said its a bad idea. It would be a lot easier and make a lot more sense for them to polish the AI than give you an ability which is suggested for the sole purpose of circumventing said bad AI.
