I'm experiencing some very problematic network issues. I can log into my character and see the world around for about 4 seconds. Then my R hits 0 and it slowly drops the connection with sporadic packet's being received. Eventually I get a FFXI-4001 error. There is something happening on SE's end as I've already talked to my ISP and their not doing anything with the connection. Sometimes my character can not even logon and I get the dreaded FFXI-3001 error. I can "fix" it if I do a manual route statement that routes the traffic to my parents router over a VPN connection, I live in South Korea, they live in the USA, I let people figure out what that does to my connection quality.
Here is the relevant info
ISP: SK Telecom (South Korea),
116.126.197.1 is ISP gateway
Destination SE server range
124.150.153.0/24
124.150.154.0/24
Tracert path,
Yes I'm usually under 60ms from SE's server farm.Tracing route to 124.150.153.102 over a maximum of 30 hops

Using this path my connection NEVER stays good for longer then 5~10 seconds no matter which zone I'm in.
Next I'll insert the route statement into my GW router.
route 124.150.153.0/24 10.10.3.1 (mother's GW router VPN interface)
route 124.150.154.0/24 10.10.3.1
And the game works and has a stable connection. Its laggy and can be jerky sometimes, but it works. It has something to do with those two IP ranges which belong to SE's world servers and sending UDP packets to client ends. From what I can tell the servers are basically "forgetting" connections exist and dropping them. Please don't ignore this SE, there is a problem somewhere and it needs to be fixed.Tracing route to 124.150.153.102 over a maximum of 30 hops
