It's not a matter of getting to the forums that's easy. It's just that most of the time I see the updates after I log into the game. I shouldn't have to minimize that and open folders to find shortcuts to the forum so I can then try to navigate this hell of a website and find the correct Dev Tag and then start reading it when they could just implement a link and *poof* I'm there.

So go to Playonline.com as you did in the past and click the link there when updates happen. It takes you directly to update threads.

Why was that even necessary to begin with? SE should -want- us to see the update notes. So the update notes should be available through PlayOnline viewer, or the link should actually be clickable so that it will take us directly to the thread. I myself still have to sift through each of those forums.

You're missing the point entirely. What's the purpose of announcing that new stuff is in progress in the PlayOnline viewer but then doesn't tell you the details in the PlayOnline viewer?

I hope the bold lettering helps you understand what I'm getting at. This is just another inconsistency, an inconvenience, that SE has planted all throughout everything related to FFXI. Ideally, you should be able to view the details of the new stuff coming in the PlayOnline Viewer.

Have to admit though, it is kinda cheezy for them to not at least just copy/paste the post from the forums into the Playonline news posts--they used to provide us the details in the PlayOnline news updates.

Another thing that annoys me is when you log into POL to play and you get the little update notices--pull up the message and it gives you the link to the forum post, but it isn't clickable. Would be nice if you could at least click the freaking link so it opens your default browser so you could check it out before you launch the game. Or better yet....just copy/paste the bleeding details into the POL notice like they used to. As it is now, you either have to to copy the text manually and open a browser to go to it, or go hunt it down through the forums or Playonline.com (which just redirect you to the freaking forum post with the same link).

It is indeed much faster just opening chrome and checking on the pol site rather than reading the updates in pol viewer. That thing is so slow I wish they could just scrap it.
