I can't answer for the OP, but in my case, it's always:
1) destroy the first enemy in 5-10 seconds
2) struggle to kill the second enemy without dying
3) decide whether to finish off the second enemy with a BP (and rendering the timer useless for the next enemy) or melee it down
The former approach is no different than waiting for the timer to start every fight (1 kill every 45 seconds). The latter approach shaves 20-40% off the time to kill a mob (2 kills every 60-70 seconds). The optimal strategy is quite dangerous to the health of the SMN.
I actually noticed a bit of unexpected hate last week. I used Odin, and pulled hate. Previously I've never seen this happen at all, and I had started to get the impression that Odin was more or less hate free and you could toss it up on monsters without them noticing it. (Never actually tried to sneak Odin someone though). Considering we had a PLD on it as well, it was surprising, even if it was at early battle and he'd probably not have much hate at all.
Every SMN AF3+2 item has hidden effect: enmity +50 XD
I'm not even sure I equip any AF3+2 at all for my Odins. Body could perhaps be smart to macro in if it gives a damage boost to 2 hours as well.
