Character Creation

I have recently purchased ffxi again (yes again), with the full intention of playing with a close friend of mine who has played for years on the alexander server.

Now due to the server merging, this is unable to be done, and I have purchased a game that I cannot even play at all until the update occurs, due to the fact that I can NOT create a character on that specific server, March 16th was the original date of the merge.

My question being, is there any thing i can do about this or am I screwed until the update which has no set day?

And there is no way he will transfer off his server nor will his wife, so that option is out.

I'm in the same boat as you (see a couple of threads down). I called support and they said only thing I could do was call them again next month to have the fees refunded because I can't play on the worlds because of the merger.

While we’re sorry to hear of the trouble you are having, unfortunately there is not anything that can be done. As we prepare for the World Merge, several steps must be taken, including the suspension of character creation on the Source and Destination Worlds.

We can only suggest that you create a character on a World that has not been affected, and enjoy the game until the time that the World Merge is complete. You can then either create a new character on your preferred server, or you can transfer that existing character through use of the World Transfer Service.
