While that might be true if this was yahoo.com or msn.com, since this is square-enix.com, which caters to a specific audience (aka people who play Square Enix games, with more specific emphasis on ffxi, as stated in the /ffxi part of the web address) this type of topic does not belong in this type of forum.
It would be like going to a french website and stating that Britain has been and always been the best country in the world, and give some reasons why Britain is good and France is bad. Almost the exact same reason.
U.S. Memorial Day is Monday, and the OP had a point to make about it. How is that irrelevant? Irrelevant to you, maybe, but there will continue to exist a given country that observes a given holiday with or without your express approval. Why would your kneejerk reaction be to try to silence the OP, rather than try to understand and engage (if not necessarily agree), or failing that ignore?*
Also, by what standard can a General Discussion forum thread be judged "off-topic"? The OP had something to say to others here, so he or she said it in the most appropriate place he or she could find. What more would you ask, and on what authority would you ask it?
*as someone who's spent a good amount of time analyzing the existence of white privilege in the United States, this thread is utterly fascinating to me
(oh one other thing: the ship pretty much sailed on reflect when they put dancers in the game; sorry bros)

tandava crackows + chocobo jig + animated flourish = prouesse ring
I would love a reflect spell.
10 years ago Squaresoft was great. 10 years ago Hironobu Sakaguchi left Squaresoft. 10 years ago Square's profits were at an all time high. In the last 10 years their profits have done nothing but decline. Coincidence, I think not. Do yourself and the fans a favor SE, bring back Sakaguchi. Bring back the awesome you once had.
Once again. If a thread has no relevance to you, then just ignore it. You don't post in every single thread you see do you? You don't need to post here either. First of all, every one of your negative, childish responses is not only extremely offensive and completely ignorant, but also creates new stereotypes of your own. So now should all Americans come across someone from another country immediately believe that they are immature, uneducated, and completely self-centered? You wouldn't like that very much, would you?
I don't need to go on reading your badgering posts representing your kneejerk debates why you think this is irrelevant to the forum. You're making it relevant to yourself by taking part in this discussion, and I suggest you leave it to those who do care about the OP's topic at hand. It's not even a topic of discussion really... Just stay out.
Don't people have something better to do than spend all day bitching about the slightest little thing?
It's a thread on a forum for goodness sakes. The guy was doing what members of a forum community do in a General Discussion board. If you feel it really is that much of a deviation from SE's purposes and what this section of the forum is meant for, forward it to a moderator and let them deal with it.
And if you're so concerned with the way the forum is run and its purposes, then:
Since you cannot see each other on the forum, your words may be taken the wrong way or may have a negative emotional affect on others. Please try to maintain a polite manner and review your entry before you post.
Please show respect and consideration to other users. Users of this forum come from various backgrounds, where their ages, sex, occupations and residential areas differ.
