Stupid Question Of The Week: Why isn't the 360 version available as a download?

The title says it all, really - to the best of my knowledge, there's no reason why the 360 version can't be offered as a download other than that it'd require removing the media check for it.

Is there another reason for it that I'm not seeing, or is it a case of "we don't see any real reason to provide future additions to the game outside of updates to platforms other than PC"?

Pretty much /thread here. Everything involving Xbox Live Marketplace goes through Microsoft and its many hoops and loops game publishers must go through.

This is also why no new achievements were added for abyssea and such, because the new content is bought via PlayOnline Viewer and not Xbox Live Marketplace.

I think there's a second reason too.

That it was a mistake to put the game on a system which could not feasibly handle the game.

If I had a nickel for every time I had gone to a high-stress (computer stress) event and heard XBox-ers tell us how they crashed out of it, I'd be able to pay a decent portion of my rent.
