opinions on asura / new player advice

i've been thinking of starting up a new character and from what i've read asura seems to be a promising server. If anyone could confirm this maybe offer any sort of advice considering ive never advanced to far in the game it would be greatly appreciated

Yeah I transferred to Asura from Shiva, so far it's a really good server.

For some reason lots of people have an lolAsura attitude. Really the server is not that bad... there are mean people as well as some absolutely lazy/terribad players but any server is going to be like that. I'm not sure how Asura is if you don't have friends on the server... but I would imagine there are still friendly people taking new members into their LSes. The game has changed a lot since I was actively leveling (abyssea made leveling obsolete ><; ) so I think you may be in for a hard fight to get a character leveled. Hopefully if you can find a group of friends in a LS you can convince them to help you.

yeeah currently i dont have any real life friends that wanna play this game i tried on bahamut before but even after playing for 2 weeks i literally saw no one.

I found when I started on Asura, on other forums I got 'lolasura' but actually I'm yet to find why (I'm talking about from last August). I like Asura and have met quite a few decent folk on there and have a blast. I know there are a-holes on Asura, but it's an MMORPG so you're going to get them regardless of game or server, but I've not actually encountered them too frequently and it's easy to brush them off and get a laugh out of it. Get yourself with a good group of people and you can find yourself having a great time. I say to new Asurans a lot of the time to look me up, I can pearl you and I'm always happy to help new folk if I've got nothing going on. The linkshell is fairly active, timezones do affect how many people are on, but it's most UK and a US folk on there, we do get events running, there's folk doing Aby and non-Aby stuff, so I'm sure you'd be able to find somebody in there willing to team up for stuff.

As for RL friends, same here - those select few that do play an MMORPG are on WoW and most of my friends who play RPGs are pretty much sick with the series, so instead I made friends in the game.

I created a character in Asura to play with a friend and ended up moving my main from Shiva yesterday. I just feel like I'm back in 2007 ffxi to a certain degree and have no complaints so far. Oh and if you're bored seeking party or anything just stand in Port Jeuno, there's usually something going on.

I have been on Asura most of my gaming life. Started on Atomos as a beta-tester for XBOX360, requested my transfer to Asura before knowing anything about people there. Only transfered to Guarda and Ramuh for a short time, but always came back.

I have found that Asura has the biggest drama in this game, mainly from old endgame LSs to most recent shouts in Port Jeuno, one of which is that gay linkshell that is trying to recruit members of all orientations. Which I find strange, as if you don't care if the player is gay or straight, why broadcast your linkshell as a gay linkshell?

Other than that, people are friendly, as long as you don't set your homepoint to Port Jeuno. Which thankfully I don't anymore.

Go to Port Jeuno about 5-7 P.M. CST and odds are, there will be a recruitment shout for that shell.
