Disconnection Problem Tech support says they never heard of.

I bought ffxi for pc to set up a mule account so i can play while leaving a bazaar up. Installed the game and set up char with no problems until I turned the tv im using instead of a reg monitor off and was disconnected right away. Called tech support and I was told they never heard of this problem and had no suggestions what so ever. Im using a 26" sanyo lcd tv instead of a monitor and hav it connected with a hdmi cable on a pc running windows 7 already update with the game thats supposed to support it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well. maybe you have one of those green power supplies or ups that have a switch or device connected to it on the green port. When you turn it off the port shuts off device.

The TV could also be disrupting the connection when it shuts off IE power spike or electronic radiation. On a final note, It could be the screen saver or software conflicting with final fantasy. When you turn your PC TV off that software or driver loads and shuts down FFXI. If I recall a specific anti-virus software did this every Friday at 9-8. There are some programs trojan software that load when the screen is turned off or the human input devices are inactive (mouse keyboard joystick). They do this to hide activities or do actions while the user is away. It could even be the firewall software or hardware setup shutting down internet when turn off the tv. With these new computers you never know how the power saving works.

I'm guessing you get the same error as if you lost your fullscreen mode in the past (don't really remember the number of it)
You can also get this if your videocard would re-detect your monitors automatically, which I think would be the same if you turned your TV off in this case. (I get this when I connect or disconnect my secundairy monitor).
Not sure how to solve this however, does it also do that in windowed mode ?
Maybe a update to the video-drivers might help ?

The video card is detecting a change in your display device, and you are getting a reset on the GPU side, causing DirectX to loose it's focus. Been a long time since I used the native vendor control panels (use ATT on my ATI cards), but may want to poke around to see if there is still the option to force the card to assume the secondary monitor is always present or something like that. Forget exactly how it was worded. Maybe disabling the power saving options for the devices in Windows Device Manager will help too.
