    Prisoner Rescue Beseiged

Gajaad will not accept trades of Imp Bronze Pieces when the Qiqirn Appraiser Chochoroon has been captured during Beseiged, we all know that.

Problem is, he has been gone for 2-3 weeks now, maybe longer and a friend is trying to obtain his Wally Turban.

Almost no-one does these rescues anymore, been years since I even did one, but we are going to give it a whirl. Something fun and different to do. It certainly should be a lot easier now than at 75 or below.

Question though SE. Would it be possible to place a time limit, (maybe max 2 weeks then return them) on how long these minor NPC's can be gone?

When the AC is captured people do a BCNM to recover it, and if a Sky Serpent General is captured people will rescue them because they are an integral part of Beseiged.

    Just a thought, thanks.

That is a good idea but it will take away the fun and challenge of those that would like to rescue prisoners but are not able to within the time limit you propose.

Rescuing prisoners is something few love to do. I've spent more time in Arrapago Reef, Halvung, and Mamook than in Abyssea. I highly encourage you to go out and save the little buggers. Rewards include imperial standing and appraisal items. Lots of <Fun> <Excitement> and <Death> too

I wish you luck in your endeavour but I absolutely disagree with imposing some kind of time limit. If players don't want to do the event, they shouldn't be reaping any of the benefits that come from it.

That said, I'm glad my old server got merged with Siren, nice to be where people care about an event that I enjoy.

Given the current situation, a limit on the time for the NPC's to be gone is not unreasonable, but that's my opinion. They could be returned after 2 weeks, dishevelled, hungry, tired but home. WG is empty, there are barely enough people to participate in Beseiged. Pre-Abyssea, captured prisoners would be rescued, benefiting everyone who wanted to get their Turbans or use the Chocobo Services whether they participated in the rescue or not. Don't think I've ever seen the free warp taru. So using your argument, the small group of people who do the BCNM to reclaim the AC when it's lost are the only ones that should benefit from Sanction, IS, and the ability to use the Runic Portals, and the small group of people who do a Prisoner Rescue should be the only ones to benefit by being able to use the services offered? Not the way it works.

We are going to attempt the rescue, not for the one, but for the benefit of the few that might still appreciate getting their turbans. Fun! Excitement! Death!

Edit: It also takes 24 hours for the Prisoner to be returned after a rescue, in keeping with the hours it takes for Beseiged to actually start.

That's not my argument at all. After all, it's obvious the whole server can't participate in the liberation of ONE captive and the whole server can't participate in the 6 man bc that fights for the AC. My argument is if people don't want to participate in besieged, let every npc get captured, and not bother to rescue them, players shouldn't expect to have access to the services they provide. It's that simple. Getting a captive back isn't hard, it just takes some legwork.

I didn't say it was hard, but, I am not going to run around with blinkers covering my eyes either. When I made this post, I was looking at the bigger picture. It was a thought for those who don't necessarily have the time, or who don't want to/are too lazy/can't be bothered/or don't have someone to help them out. That happens a lot, especially with things of this nature. Obviously, no-one had cared to rescue the Qiqirn since he had been gone for a few weeks, and the Chocobo NPC has been gone for at least 2 weeks, so it wasn't important to anyone. However, I was only made aware of what was needed yesterday and it caused me to think about it and the possibility of changing things a bit, plus, I would never deny a fellow LS member, friend and active particpant in Beseiged (along with myself), or anyone else the opportunity to get something they worked for, and if it means that others, even one other, might possibly benefit even if they don't do Beseiged, then it's all to the good.

Having the AC is a service too. It provides Sanction, IS and the ability to use Runic Portals to everyone who wishes to use them, whether they do Beseiged or not. Many people are now doing Nyzul/Assault/Salvage if for nothing else but the titles/key items for Atma, so if the AC is lost there is a lot of wailing until a small group goes and gets it back.

Maybe getting the Wally Turban is not a priority for most, it's still worth the time for some. I also thought about the time, way back when I wanted my Turban, that someone had perhaps rescued the Qiqirn, perhaps for themselves, who knows. I benefited. Point is, if they did, they weren't thinking about not letting others benefit, Beseiged or non- Beseiged participants and neither were we.

We successfully rescued Chochoroon this morning. It was absolutely worth the effort, was enjoyable to do something different and fun instead of the usual boring, mind numbing grind. Wanted to rescue the Chocobo NPC also but she was in the one area we couldn't access in Halvung.

FFXI has been out of balance for some time now, and this is a smaller symptom of a much bigger problem. Besieged needs bigger rewards (it was always such a fun battle!), and their need to be bigger rewards for players to go rescue the NPC themselves. Maybe some NPCs just shouldn't be captured because they're too important to game play. Maybe they're smart enough to run one zone away to Whitegate when there's an immanent besieged warning.
