Game closes

I recently bought the Abyssea edition game on Steam; it downloaded fine, and the playOnline viewer/launcher runs fine. When I start the game, however, my screen goes black for a second, like it's going to start, but then it just closes. No error message or anything. Has anyone else had this problem?

**I downloaded and played the previous Ultimate edition through Steam maybe 6 months ago (on the same PC), and this wasn't an issue then.

Any help would be great.

The section you want is "I just reinstalled the Steam version of FINAL FANTASY XI and receive "Error code: POL-5312" or “Error code: POL-1158”.

I got one of these error messages at first, then verified the files through steam, after I verified them I didn't get the error messages, but got the black screen then was exited from PlayOnline, this is what fixed it for me. Hope it helps.
