    PlayOnline Viewer Stopped Working

    I just installed the PC version of the game and finally got the game updated. But when i tried to start it a movie started playing. Not wanting to watch the movie I hit enter to skip it and got an error message saying "PlayOnline Viewer Stopped Working". So I went into settings and unchecked the box so the movie won't play, now when I try to play the game I automatically get that error message.

    What can I do about this?

    Sorry. I missed that thread. Here's the rest of the info.

    Details:I just installed the PC version of the game and finally got the game updated. But when i tried to start it a movie started playing. Not wanting to watch the movie I hit enter to skip it and got an error message saying "PlayOnline Viewer Stopped Working". So I went into settings and unchecked the box so the movie won't play, now when I try to play the game I automatically get that error message.
    Steps:
    1.Pressed Play to start FFXI and the opening movie started. I clicked to skip the movie and PlayOnline shutdown and gave me the message "PlayOnline Viewer Stopped Working".
    2. I then clicked the option to not show the movie hoping this would solve the problem, now when I push Play PlayOnline automatically shuts down and I get the same error message.
    Date & Time: May 13th, 2011 around 10:30 am CST
    Frequency: Everytime since I installed the game
    Platform: PC (Downloaded through Steam)
    PC Manufacturer & Model Number: Homebuilt Computer
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450
    ISP: Mediacom
    Type of Internet Connection: CATV

    I had another issue with the PlayOnline Viewer having a line telling me to input my SquareEnix ID but not giving me a box to put it in. Since my PC copy came from Steam I looked at their support pages and apparently my game wasn't installed properly. So far the reinstall has fixed the SquareEnix ID problem.

    I'm currently updating FFXI again, I believe it'll be about 10 hours for the update to finish. I'll check again in the morning after the update is done and let you know if the reinstall also fixed the "PlayOnline Viewer Stopped Working" error message.

    Ok. After finishing the game updates I tried to login again and was able to with no problems. Apparently the game did not download and install correctly from Steam the first time around.
