    I had a similar issue and got a trustworthy friend to login to my account and move my character.

    I believe it has something to do with a combination of ISP's, Router setup and just general quality of your internet as another friend who is in America was getting a rate of R3400 in the same zone yet not timing out / getting stuck in a loading screen - where about R2500ish is when it starts to get really slow, clippy and laggy for me.

    Being in Australia - our internet services are somewhat rubbish to say the least. Another friend of mine had issues and she is lives in New Zealand, which also has a very average service.

    I believe there is a threshold in which your ISP / Router / Computer can handle and when it's trying to download all that data in one hit - it get's timed out. Hence you are getting the connection error message.

    For those of us who are having these issues (I by no means am an internet expert) believe it would be wise to stay out of congested areas such as Port Jeuno and set your HP to your home nation for the time being til there is a better workaround. Well that's at least what I am doing.

    Ports have been configured and retried. Issue persists. Factory reset has been performed and log-in retried. Issue persists. Is there a list of some sort, with proper Xbox360 port settings? ?I see them for ps2 on portforward.com, and have been given them many times for PC. I'm on Cerberus and haven't seen anyone saying anything about overpopulation, so I just don't know. This is frustrating. What the hell was in that update? Are they trying to run FFXI on fewer servers? At this point, a reason of any sort would be enough to relieve stress, or make my possible cancellation after such a short time back sting less...

    Another victim here. On the day of the update I left Upper Jeuno to Batallia Downs and got the same "Downloading Data" screen error as everyone else here. I've done several file checks, reset router and reinstalled the game and waited through all the updates and still can't log into my main in Asura. Nothing seems to work, so I guess I'm done.

    same crap just happened to me on Ragnarok. was trying to go from port jeuno to sauro and got the black screen. i can log ononto all my mules just not my main character. GM says they cant do anything to contact tech. support but as ususal it happened on the weekend when those idiots dont work. >< i`ve relogged about 5-6x already w/in the last 2hrs and still nothing. they just crammed about 2k more ppl onto our server but didnt upgrade the server and we already had very bad lag. they just want our money and to hell w/ service/quality imo.

    I'm about to give up. I was going to level BST in Kuftal Tunnel tonight. I had my WHM on another acct Teleport-Altep me. My main is yet again stuck, this time in Eastern Altepa Desert. The WHM loaded just fine as usual. Same router, and connection. So why does SE keep saying it's not on their side? I have tried everything, multiple routers. I love this game so much, but I won't continue playing if this isn't fixed soon.

    I've tried tech support with my ISP (they are helpful, but there is nothing wrong with my connection, even had a repair tech test the fiber optic lines today at my house) my router Linksys and SE tech support. SE tech support keeps telling me it's a port fowarding issue. I've set it up everyday this week and the problem persists. Really about to give up here. If SE continues to give me the run around then I guess I'm done.

    well, been 12hrs now and still no luck logging on with my main, i have a pc, xbox and an ps2 and i have failed on all 3 to log in. been playing for almost 5yrs now everyday and have nvr had this kind of problem, cant believe they still say its my equip and not them, this is BS. the bastards are fast about taking their money every month but when u need help there`s nobody to help you ><

    Well I crashed on Friday 13th around say 11am eastern when trying to use the stables in port Juneo. My mule in sandy can log in just peachy. Its now Sunday 15th 9:22 am eastern and I still have been unable to enter the game, Error 3001.

    This is getting to the point where its unacceptable. I did nothing on my end so I know something changed in the last patch to cause this. As bad as the other not to be named games are at least you can log into them.

    well, been 18hrs now and still nothing. have reformatted routers 3 times already and still nothing. >< so what they said about the routers is BS >< have completely restarted pc 4x and have tried everything i know with no luck. SE you fucking suck >< i bet the japs dont have these problems ><

    I just left Port Windurst via Teleport-Yhoat and got stuck in the downloading screen. Every time I try to log back in, I'm stuck in downloading data black screen and then I get the Error - 3001. I can log in on mules on my account, just not my main. Annoying.

    I've had more problems with disconnecting since the server merge than I have during my entire time playing. :/
