I had the same problem last night with my main character in Jeuno, but my mules in other cities were unaffected. This morning I was able to log on and go to Windurst to get some seals out of my mog storage and deliver them. I logged back on in Windurst tonight, but when I warped back to Jeuno, I got disconnected again with the same error message (and got it again every time I tried to log back on to that character).

How many other people having this problem are on merged servers? I am on Carbuncle, which was the destination for a merge with Gilgamesh. The combination of that and the problem occurring during peak hours makes me suspect that the merged server has so many players it is crashing high population zones like Jeuno...

In any case, the number of players having this problem simultaneously makes it *very* unlikely it is occurring at the player end. Hopefully the GMs will provide some information soon.

I had this issue a couple of times last weekend just couldn't log in on either PC or 360. I resolved it both times by restarting my modem. Hope this helps.

mine was resolved after about 2 hours by disconnecting all other devices from my wireless router, then restarting my laptop. I'm in the UK and using AOL. It was 5pm when I started so it's always a peak time for internet usage around here, and other websites were also running slowly. I'll see if I have the same issue again at 5pm lol.

(I did make a point of logging out in upper jeuno instead of port jeuno this time though XD)

Well at least now I know I'm not the only one in this blasted boat. I haven't been able to pull my character out of aby vunk because all it does is time out on me. Did an uninstall and reinstall, updated - nada. Rebooted router & modem - nada. Added the ports to the router - nada. Tried #2 again - still nada.

    UGH.

    Xianra,

We can offer a few suggestions if you are experiencing any of the following:
    • Have difficulty connecting to or staying connected to the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI
    • Crash, receive a black screen error, or get stuck at the downloading data screen upon clicking your character handle or character select button
    • See your the lag meter turn red
    • Encounter increased lag or connection problems near crowed areas
    • Have trouble accessing specific zone(s)
    • Have trouble logging in with specific character(s)
    • Receive any of these errors: 3113, 3100, 4001, 1160

    Suggestions:
    1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
    2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
    3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.

Please take note of the following:
    • Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
    • Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
    • If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.

I.. Think most of us have established it's not a router issue.

Sigh... That is the same canned response I keep getting over, and over. Do they not see how with many of us, we can log onto our other characters just fine? I don't see how any router issue will single out a character to deny loading a zone, but allow my others to roam free...

I just connected my cable modem directly to my computer and disabled Windows firewall. I'm still experiencing the same issue with Buburimu Pennisula.

Even when I'm behind my router, I can log in to my mule on the same account, same network, same computer just fine. It really does seem to be just this one zone for me.

Multiple zones for me. Had to have a friend unstick me from her computer. <_< I'm actually rather tired of going "o heiii~ Can you move me back to my HP? >_> <3"
