This topic becomes super hilarious if you know Avesta was banned for teh hax.
While you have a point about the religious ties of the name, if you think about the history behind the Taisaijin NM and why it drops Refresh, it's hard to believe that SE doesn't know about him. Given their history of tying in other "real world stuffs" they likely gave him a nod by tailoring the item towards the two jobs he's best known for.
As for the rest of the conversation, next item to come out will be named for Kanican...
Ya, i am sure they will name an item after a banned player.
Pretty high, actually. The community team, which listens to most FFXI-related podcasts (and has been guests on them in the past as well) is quite likely to be paying attention to FFXI-related YouTube videos that have high view counts.
Like Avesta's soloing videos.
This is also the community team which reads the bluegartr forums that are not, as far as I can tell, officially recognized by SE, so I'm sure they've read the threads in various forums that ARE officially recognized regarding Avesta's soloing.
Of course, the only people that know for certain if this item was named after Avesta or not are the dev and localization teams... I'd like it if we could get some official word on if these are named after Avesta or if it's a coincidence.
