    Under-used Enemy Types

I was recently assisting some one with progressing through Chains of Promathia. They had never been to Bibiki Bay, let alone the island (Purgonorgo Isle) that you take the manaclipper to (which is where they had to go). On the trip there, I remembered that there's an enemy type that is pretty much exclusive to the island. Uragnites. These giant hermit-crab type mobs can hide in their shell (sacrificing the ability to move) to greatly increase their defense.

"Why can't I think of any other place they appear?" is the question that popped into my head. As with anything that obscure that I don't know the specifics of, I wiki'd it. Wiki lists that the only normal mob versions of the uragnite appear on the manaclipper and on the island. There are only 2 exceptions outside of the island they appear. Both of which happen to be in Abyssea - Grauberg, and both are NMs (Melo Melo and Amphitrite [Zone Boss]).

While I do enjoy the fact that they are such a rare species within the game, I take issue with the fact that they are quite possibly the best potential skill up target in the game when they are hiding in their shells. The problem is, that there are no high level normal versions of the mob, only the level 30ish ones that inhabit the island.

This, of course, got me thinking about other severely under-used enemy types.

Ruszors, Acroliths, Cardians (Horutoto Ruins), Animated Weapons (Dynamis - Xarcabard), and Living Crystals (ACP final boss).

Why not implement more of these enemy-types into the game? Living Crystals are a relatively classic Final Fantasy enemy type, alongside Mimics. As for Cardians, I can understand why they are rogue and why they are in those ruins but I don't understand why they are ONLY in those ruins. I also understand why the Uragnites are where they are (the tropics) and why Ruszors are where they are (the northlands) because of their natures/required climates but there are other places that have these climates that do not see these creatures. Are there any plans to use these obscure enemy types again in the future?

Uragnites are also in Dynamis... I want to say Buburimu? Not sure. And as for Living Crystal, it's the ACP final boss... it's meant to be unique. Riko Kupenreich was also a unique monster. So's Promathia. And Alexander.

But anyway, I do agree with most of what you're saying. There's a lot of enemies out there that I would love to see more of.

He once sold his soul to Promathia for a rare drop. He later won it back in a drinking contest, before beating up the twilight god for good measure.
He's won dance-off trophies from the Republic of Bastok, the Duchy of Jeuno, and the Yagudo Theomilitary.
He's won entire arguments with a single leer.
He is the most interesting galka in the world.

Forgot about Nightmare Uragnite (mostly because it's essentially a footnote on the uragnite page instead of a listing). But still, that's a NM (even if they're are 22 of them) not a normal mob type (because they spawn clones on aggro and require killing something else to be able to spawn).

Nightmare Uragnites appear in Dynamis Buburimu after MB win, with an even worse Poison effect than Uragnites in Purgonorgo. Apart from the fact that few people ever go there, those that do might be put off by the back to back use of poison. Pretty to look at though,

Dear lord, there are tons of animated weapons. (Sky?) If I never see one again I'll be happy.

If acroliths are the floating skulls; too many of them too. A - Vunkerl and A - Konschtat has more than I can handle.

The reason though that acroliths and ruszor are so scarce is because they were only added in WotG and no one really cares about that content.

You clearly don't know what an animated weapon is then, they are dynamis - xarcabard exclusive. Evil Weapons =/= Animated Weapons.

Acroliths are those giant golden robot things from ToAU, floating skulls are called corpselights.

Abyssea has lots of both to that list.

I want baby Behemoths, Khimiras, Cerberus, and Hydras. We got baby Faffies (check A-Tah for those), Sandworms (again, A-Tah), and Adamantoise (wow, looky there, A-Tah).

IMO. They should add more mobs that can periodically fly and attack from a distance. Especially when it comes to bosses.

OR. go into "Semi-Flying" mode and become resistant to melee damage, and highly susceptible to Ranged Attacks.

This in turn would increase the want/need for Ranged Attacking jobs, such as RNG, COR and... Shuriken NIN's! (Please refer to NINJA JOB forums "A Ninja without Throwing"... lol).

Slimes in Abyssea would be pretty cool.
