So what happened?

You reactivated in the middle of a month, that's what happened.

You were charged 12.95 for the month you reactivated in, and 12.95 for next month.

People need to freaking review their charges when they log in instead of just looking at their credit card bill and going "OMG I got double charged!"

SE does not double charge you. 99.9% of the time, this is because of a reactivation. They charge you for the month you came back and the next month at the same time. People don't seem to undestand this even though they tell you- When you reactivate, you are not charged right then and there. You are charged for it at the end of the month instead.

Also: You did not qualify for a free month if you joined during the month of may- You had to already be subscribed before that to qualify.
