It would be nice to have more wardrobes, but it already takes ~1 minute for your inventory to load in each zone.

One possibly solution is for SE to give us 1000 inventory slots in the Mog Garden (only) and we could virtually choose all of the gear wanted to actually pull out of storage slips and then shuffle our gear in one session (i.e. 80 inventory slots at time, using the 1,000 as a free, work area). This would allow us to keep just equipment, food, items only in our Safe1/2/Satchel/Case/Sack/Wardrobe1-8.

So, 1000 slots in the mog garden for all of the miscellaneous items that don't pertain to actually PLAYING our job(s). This would allow us to free up our current containers for just what jobs we want to play.

Does this make sense? (Yes it would make the mog garden load even slower).

Ooh, maybe not even in the Mog Garden. To save on inventory loading time, I wonder if they could make it so you could just open the entire Porter Storage when talking to the Porter Moogles. Basically, no need to carry the slips anymore, just show you all the items you've stored with them. That would be soooo nice..

But I'm no expert. I don't know if that would add another inventory to load whenever you zone even if there are no Porter Moogles in the area

Perhaps give the inventory a toggle to load it, instead of /always/ loading it.

I'm unsure though if that would mess with checking what you already have. The server side would know, but the client would probably get confuddled...

Maybe it could save the information on log-in and then load it only when asked for or something like towards that.

This can only work for bags you can't equip items from. Anything you equipment could be coming from needs to be able to be loaded in at all times.

I'm surprised there's no client-side caching of inventories when moving through zones. I guess to prevent exploits?

Yes. The more information that you place in the hands of the client the more ways there are to break and abuse the game.

Standard practice in MMOs is to trust the client with as little as possible to prevent cheating. Movement and certain other actions have to be client side though, otherwise they would be too unresponsive.
