    Error code:POL-1341

I've been trying to log in for an hour now and I keep getting the following error: POL-1341. Similarly, the game crashes several times a day. Another constant problem in Asura is lag. The game is laggy all the time, making it impossible to play properly. You do take in mind that this service isn't free, right? Because I see you all so happy posting things in your main page and social media but, you haven't solved this issue at all, and I've already reported it through your different channels and you're not doing anything to fix it. If that's how things are going to be, then Square Enix might as well not charge the subscription fee and nobody will say anything. There are free games that provide better support and problems like this are solved quick, but here, I don't see any kind of commitment to offering the community a service that justifies what we pay per month.

P.S.: And before you come at me with nonsense about checking my connection cables, I've included all the pictures even a speed test done from my own PC, so you can see that everything here works perfectly fine except FFXI.

Other games working doesn't mean you don't have a problem. Everyone uses this logic but it just doesn't work that way. FFXI depends on a lot of obscure stuff some of which is even depricated now (i.e. directplay) and there may be things that aren't configured ideally for FFXI even if they aren't technically "wrong."

So as a P.S. to you, please don't tell people not to ask certain questions. Every tech support person in the world will thank you- They have to follow a troubleshooting script which has steps in a certain order for very important reasons.

That said, the most common network problems I see today are badly configured or malfunctioning backbone internet routers (not YOUR router, but a router along your shortest path to the server), which cause intermittent reliability issues. Most often these issues can be worked around by use of a VPN, which allows you to force your connection to take a different path to reach the server and can resolve many connection issues. This is also a perfect example of a problem that may only affect a specific game but is not the fault of that game itself.

Please don't play this card. 99.99% of the time these problems have nothing whatosever to do with Square Enix. They didn't put a rule on the servers that says "don't let this one guy connect." But if you want to blame them anyway, by all means speak with your wallet and stop paying them money. If it was a server-side issue, you'd see a lot more people complaining about it. and even THEN, usually it's a temporary issue. A DDOS attack, some peice of equipment went down, etc.

FFXI has extremely good uptime so out of all the reasons not to give them money, I would not agree this is one of them.

Let's see, I'm looking for solutions. Are you a Square Enix employee and part of the support team? Because if not, I have absolutely no interest in reading a single word of what you wrote. So, thanks for participating, but I'm sorry to say you just wasted a post and your time writing because I posted in these forums because there's no other option, because I only follow the instructions of people who ARE part of the Square Enix team., wich says that if you have any technical problems, you should report them in these forums. That's just how it is, and I'll keep waiting for someone official from the Square Enix support team to resolve the problem properly. If you are not an SE employee, as I already told you, just keep going and stop looking for a fight because that doesn't solve anything or help, and also I'm not interested in reading the provocations of some random person.

If you want to get help from an SE employee you should be filing a support ticket on their support site. They rarely respond to these threads here in this forum, w hich is primarily for players helping players. here's a link to it.

    Square Enix Support Site

Hopefully, you'll be a bit less rude to them then you have been to the people here.

No one here is trying to "provoke" anyone. It doesn't seem necessary because given the anger supplied in the opening post, you were clearly already provoked before you came here.

Try being a little nicer to people in general. It works better than you might expect.

Good luck getting help then. If I was an SE employee and your support request looks like this I'd say heck that and bin it. Please stop giving us money because I don't want to deal with this anymore.

For everyone else here, let's go over the nightmare customer checklist.

    • Uncooperative with troubleshooting?
    • Rude to everyone?
    • rules out any end-user issue without trouobleshooting?
    • attacks anyone who offers information? ✓
    • doesn't go through the proper channels for tech support?
    • gets irrationally angry over what is probably a temporary issue? ✓
    • makes an overtly big deal out of blocking someone instead of just doing it?

okay maybe that last one isnt really nightmare customer related but it's still funny.
I repeat again, stop looking for trouble, this is not the place, THANK YOU.
Neither I nor anyone else was "looking for trouble." On the other hand, it sure seems like you were since you came here posting out of anger from the get-go. Like I said- Try being nicer to people. Also try not assuming malice from them too.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XI Technical Support Forums!

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time this occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc.

Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.

Once your PC has been restarted, right-click the FINAL FANTASY XI launcher icon once more and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FINAL FANTASY XI launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.

If you are receiving the error FFXI - 3113 - Protocol Timeout Error, ensure that Client for Microsoft Networks is installed in your Windows network properties. If it is installed, you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

    TCP: 25, 80, 110, 443 and 50000 - 65535
    UDP: 53 and 50000 - 65535

*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XI.

Note that Proxy servers and satellite connections do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.

If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting your provider and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XI Technical Support Forums!
