Here's the thing people, the item is obviously designed to get people to start playing, or attract the tons of players that quit the game over the past years for one reason or another, and make it easier for them to level without much help so they can quickly get up to par with the rest of the community... it's a marketing strategy, one that literally EVERY market takes advantage of whether you want to acknowledge it or not...

I love these posts that are so full of wrong and "i'm more mature than you, hahah!"

I don't see you trying to give a reason why we, who have already bought the things, do not receive the hat, and I never will cause you can't see what's not there. Only thing I see are the reasons why the hat is useful, thanks for pointing out the obvious.

As I said, it's a marketing strategy... If you really want the item -that- much you're more than welcome to fork over another $20 to obtain one for yourself... otherwise you can do without, it's entirely unnecessary that you have one... And a good many people can't even take advantage of this item's latent effects any longer because they've already leveled their jobs above 30... As such, the item also serves as a costume piece for collectors...

At least they aren't like Blizzard, who regularly comes out with in-game items for real-world money... and has an entire card game structured around the idea that you may come across a special card in a booster pack with a code that can be exchanged in game for a worthless costume piece...

I bought the expansions after getting my first job to 30 because I wanted to start accumulating stones. I have one job at 66, one in the 40s and 1 at 30. I plan on using a lot of my other jobs too.

At first I only bought the one expansion but then my LS started talking about doing some more activities in Aby so I picked up the others so I would be prepared. I still don't think I should be punished for paying more for Abyssea...

My only real problem with them doing things like this is simply this, ur most dedicated fans buy the expantions and add-ons the day they are available and begin exploring and enjoying them. Its fine to try and make it easier for new people to get into the game and offering collectors edition bonus'. But it doesnt seem right to not give ur dedicated fan base the same gift if they have already paid and used the expantions. At the very least u could make it a buyable item ingame for the people who have had the expantions and would like to have the item/items. Just my thoughts.

Take away everything you've earned on your account since Abyssea came out and replace it with the Berret. Still feel cheated? Just level yourself a pocket WHM if you need the hat so bad. Oh yes, erase all your stones too. You paid for a huge head start compared to people who will be buying the expansion now and will have nothing to show for it but a hat that is worthless to half of the community.

I agree it's good marketing (ie: Corporate money scheming), but thinking a hat is worth more than how many months of access to the content is absurd.

In before stones are easy now, Abyssea is easy now, and everything else is easy now. Getting to 30 on all jobs has been easy since before the USA release.

Not to mention WoW is what, 120 dollars for the full game? That's with a discount too.

Buying Abyssea before you could use it would allow you to start gaining stones stockpiled for when you could use it. Also, buying expansions at launch is habit for anyone playing on PS2, since Collections were rare and expansions went out of print a month or two after release.

You aren't being punished. You simply aren't getting an extra reward. There is a difference.

Adoulin is installed but still not lighting up on your title screen? Here's what to do:
Go to https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/login?cont=account and log in, then Select Service >>> PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI >>> Add a service account (blue button) >>> input expansion software registration code.
