    Change magian trial NMs

    I think this will be best illustrated by a personal experience so here goes: We all know the first six trials for empyrean weapons are a complete time sink and no skill is involved in the kills (to say nothing of WoE drama and mass overcrowding in aby), yet what happened the other day I can't tolerate. After 5 hours of killing placeholder for Jolly Green solo, the thing finally popped on my scan, i run over to it and...it's been killed when i get there. Not just claimed but the thing is dead so i have no time to ask them to invite me. I was now and then doing /sea in the zone and 0 ppl always were there, except when ballista was going. I had the damn thing in /seacom, yet some ass apparently logged on from where they were camping it, saw it's up and decides to kill it without giving a crap that someone else spent the time.

    Then she even asked if i wanted the belt when i told her about that...She was camping for the belt and had no trial weapon on. I know it's a huge coincidence, but how would you feel? Frankly it made me want to quit, it makes me dislike the player base that was years ago an actual community, and it definitely has made me quit doing those timesink trials. When the only "challenge" of them is to hope some scrub doesn't log on and gank the NM you spent HOURS trying to pop, it's a fail system. So i'll probly get bored and quit at some point, unless the update is spectacular or something.

    What i wish would happen is that, like the 3 kings change, these were all made force pops, or at least the repop times reduced, cause rather than keeping me playing, it's just giving me less to do as is. I think people for the most part are either done with their weapons or they're not willing to put up with these absurd all-day camps for 4th-5th weapon cause I see far fewer camping them now. Indeed, my only concern lately was some random would come kill it before i can claim...cause no one is around to team up with when i get there.

    I dunno, i'm well aware it's still far less a time sink than relics/mythics, but i just don't have the patience for garbage like at jolly green anymore, so i won't be camping those unless SE changes it. I would like to finish that trial but after going thru 4 other empyreans, most of which back then i could just team up and go afk half the time, it's just not worth the angst it has become. I'm glad these forums now exist so there's a place to vent, anyway.

    could make repops less random not 2-10 hrs crap, though yoiu have to remember, emps where ment to be an alt to relic weapons so hard to really say.

    You misunderstand, i put in the effort and have np with that, but to have that effort spit on by some ghetto lv20 belt seeker who did not put in ANY effort to make the nm pop, reminds me of when RMT would afk claim ulli after we camped it and killed PH for 10hr+. I think we all have better things to do than camp lv20 mobs on our lv90 jobs anyway, it doesn't prove a damn thing to claim and kill them.

    yeah right, you wouldn't appreciate it either if it happened to you, sad that you can't comprehend that

    Can duo all the vnm trials in a night, there is no "deserve" about the 5hr+ lv20 pops

    like i said before i found no reason someone should wait 5-10 hrs for a mob.

    all mine where with in 2 hrs, a few where 3 so i can see the frustation

    I avoided all of the NM emp weaps for just this reason. Make new NMs, or use those Aptant droppers that noone fights anyway, make them 75+ and make them all force pop. The work shouldn't be fighting for claim, it should be trying to kill a mob that is actually capable of killing you.

    I have no problem with the player who killed it trying to get belt, that is quite legitimate of a reason. The problem is using NMs that might actually be wanted for a real reason, i.e. a drop or quest progress or something. Maybe add something to hunt registry if SE insists on using existing NMs that makes it a force pop or an auto-claim or something. Believe it or not, not every player has a 10 hour window to play the game, especially on business days.

    I think you may have missed the point the OP was trying to say. He put in all the time and effort to camp the NM only to have another player (camping NM for the belt) to kill it outright. So, with this, another entire process of camping will have to take place, which could mean up to say 5+ hours again.

    Baring a language barrier, this issue is pretty easy to circumvent - talk to the other campers.

    Since the release of Trial of the Magians and Abyssea, we players are now so much more willing to team up with each other when their goals are reasonably compatible.

    And I say this as a native Asuran. Regular visitors to several FFXI forums over the years have a good idea of Asura's 'special' nature.

    I, along with many other players, will invite and offer NM campers whatever drop they want from said NM. The cooperation benefits all players involved and eliminates the stress of claiming the NM upon pop.
