Dimidiation quest bug (Rune Fencing the Night Away)

I had gotten the quest a while back quit and came back I have the Trial Blade for the WSs but I do not have the quest in my log and Gaddiux wont talk to me, I was doing light SCs for about 3 hrs and the Dimidiation WS never appeared on my weapon or log, I tried throwing away the blade to see if I could accept quest then but did not work. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

(update I cant start the Epeolatry quest either (Quiescence). please help me out on this im at a loss

Your best bet is to retrace your steps from the beginning of the quest, or from the previous quest if there is one. 99.9%

There's no bug though, they changed how WS are counted for weaponskill quests; so you may not have gotten as much (or any, depending on the circumstances) credit as you thought.

Make sure you are fighting enemies of sufficient level. They must not check Too Weak.
Avoid using style lock while doing weapon skill trials, it is known to cause issues, although you will still correctly accumulate points the completion may not be reflected while style locked.
If you threw the weapon away, you should be able to get another from the quest-giver; if that doesn't work you may need to use your one time item restore to recover it. General rule: Don't throw items like this away ever, even if you think something's broken.

the thing is I don't even have the quest in the quest log anymore, nor in the completed tab. I will give it another go, I do not have any lock style on though.
