Complete noob here... FFXI here I come

Hello everyone.

I recently decided to start my adventure in Final Fantasy XI, I know in 2025 , but here I am.

I decided to start playing on the server Bahamut and I was wondering, more of a curiosity thing, why you guys have been playing this game for this long? Or if you are someone that started playing recently, why did you decide to come here when we have other mmorpg's out there more modern, modern graphics and all that?

I was also wondering, not that I'm into that, but is there anyone even a very small community that Role Plays? Is there a social aspect to this game maybe a place outside of cities where people meet up at times and socialize?

Why have I played so long? well mostly because it was my first MMO, and also my first main line final fantasy game lol. I liked a lot of the concepts, I like the more relaxed pace of combat compared to the dance dance revolution telegraph dodging in FFXIV. I like the wide range of jobs and the job/subjob system.

Another part of it, admittedly, is the grind, I actually live for grind games and XI is definitely one of them (I also enjoy other grind games like the Warriors franchise). I like the world and the story, and while I do play FFXIV, once you've played XI for several years, it kinda just keeps calling you back every here and there.
