FFXI to shutdown in 2024

A reminder that this game is part of mainline series, otherwise you'll see things like FF14 1.0 just being dumped for real & saw no revival that is 2.0. On its own, FF11 already has a strong lore and gameplay that represents its own time, rather than catching up with the trends. While it might be outdated to some, it has its own charms. Unless SE somehow come with the plan to sort of archival but still keeping the game playable in sorts, atm this game isn't going nowhere.

That said, the game does need some sort of uplift since there's basic features needs to be up to date as of current, for one... like how I kept suggesting on the other QoL suggestion topic about having chat logs not interrupt-able during area zoning. And maybe unlocking fps beyond 30 amongst other things.

That's not actually what he said, he said the game was going to go into maintenance mode in 2024 (they even said that) and they changed their mind after seeing players support.

Yep you're correct.

Obviously not only did that not happen but there are still content updates planned. So why bother with this?

To your question, if you read what I said, the reason I bother with this is to point out that FFXI (and FFXII) are the only RPG's that SE has released, and are the only games that can draw me back into what is supposed to be a RPG series. In my opinion.

So to repeat myself, if FFXI ever shutdown, for any reason I would officially not be a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise, as I am a fan of RPG games and I do not consider Final Fantasy XIII, XIV, XV and XVI to be RPG"s.

I don't even consider FF16 to be a video game at all.
