Read the patch notes. But the fact that it's there and we can't use it yet tells me they're still working on the website side of a not free thing.

But they haven't said one way or the other up to this point. That said, it would shock me if it was free because character re-customization typically a paid service in MMOs, so they'd be missing out on an obvious revenue stream.

It would be nice if they'd give out a free Teal Mog Pell to existing characters, even if they're only available for a short time. XIV gave out multiple free Fantasias, I see no reason XI can't do the same.

Yeah, but XIV also has a LOT more options for changing the basic look of your character. XI only has a handful of heads with two hair colors for each race and gender. It's hard to say people are going to want to change their race/head as often as one would want to in FFXIV.

I'm not saying they need to or that we're entitled to it, just saying it would be nice for the first one to be free for current subscribers or something.

They spend a lot of money and time making it, they want a return on that investment or they won't be allowed to do it again by management.

If you spend so much, a few more bucks won't kill you.

A bit in the 'FINAL FANTASY XI 2025 UPDATE TOPICS SPRING – SUMMER' video [1], published on Saturday 17th (UTC), as well as the 70th mogivana on 16th (UTC) [2][3] seem to confirm that it is indeed a paid service.

Would definitely not mind current players getting one freebie, though I personally don't think I'll be using the service at all.

I'll do it if it's cheaper than a fanrtasia. There aren't that many options to choose from so charging the same price would be insulting.
