Can the Abyssea Light Campaign be permanently removed?

It may sound counterintuitive, but the Abyssea campaign has made it nearly impossible to farm an Empyrean weapon in heroes zones due to capped azure lights. The free roaming NM needed for the Aht Urghan HNMs (hydra, cerberus, khimaira) has a horrible drop rate, and only spawns every 15 min. This farm would be doable with amber chest farming, but the azure from the campaign inhibits amber chests from dropping forcing you to have to rely on an NM that has a low drop rate and had a 15 min timer.

Another way to make this less painful would be to make Jaculus wing, sissyphus fragment, etc. a 100% drop rate. It feels bad when I can only spawn 1 NM an hour because I cannot get these items from amber chests during campaign and the corresponding NM rarely drops it's item.

Taking into consideration with one of current special condition with subs discount from FF14, this might pose a problem as well for those only subbed on that current campaign.

Personally haven't doing much abby since WotG days, does amber chest not dropped from normal mob killings while waiting for another NM pop CDs? or does the azure lights totally hinders the pop rate of those chests? If any, majority of FF11 players should've know that RNG plays huge factor here, hence the campaign may not be the culprit.

Gold chests can drop, but the chests you get are influenced by the lights you have - more azure means more blue, more amber means more gold. While I don't have specific numbers, my experience has been that in a cleave pull that takes nearly three minutes to clean up after, there would be maybe two or three each of red and gold, and the rest blue.

This suggests a solution of "well just build up more amber light", and that works very well in zones where you need key items, but once you cap amber light the treasure pool is strongly biased toward top-tier temporary items like Revitalizers, augmented gear, and NM key items. The pop items you might want are never common, but by the time you start getting large gold chests they've all but disappeared from the loot pool.

There are a few fixes that would solve this, but I don't know how viable any would be:

Making timed pop NMs in Abyssea respawn after, say, 3 minutes rather than 15 during the campaign would reduce the need for gold chests significantly (and make crowding a little less of a problem too.)

Increasing the drop rate for NM spawn items during the campaign (ideally 100%, 50% would definitely be too low) would help but it would still leave a big bottleneck in the process.

Giving the spawn items from timed NMs a chance to be added directly to the treasure pool upon opening any gold chest during the campaign would solve the problem of overshooting the ideal amber light range.

(Any of those would be great all the time rather than just "during the campaign", but that would probably make empyrean weapons just a little too easy.)

Why not just cap Amber lights (as you would do outside of campaign)?

More amber light means a broader pool of treasure to choose from. Key items start to appear, single temp item chests start appearing, empyrean boots are added to the common treasures, and the common treasure pool seems to skew more toward "valuable" items. Less of the gold chests have a chance of containing a pop item, and the pop items compete with more stuff for spots in the chests they do have a chance to appear in.

There's an optimal point just below the level where large gold chests start appearing, where isn't much added to the loot pool yet - I think it's mostly just more temp items and a bit higher chance of augmented gear? - but the chance to find the chests is increased. However, if you have capped azure before you hit that point, you just aren't going to see as many gold chests as blue.

Seems like what you wanted are moderate amount of amber build instead of capped just to avoid more broader loot selections. Not sure am aware of these kind of situations, but it felt too complicated just to met certain level of amber light builds to prevent broader loot selections.

Guess in the end might be best to try when event is over, albeit whichever the case, RNG still a huge factor in which one may or may not get their empy feet piece drops either quicker or much more later, hence probably won't gonna matter to kept trying, who knows ur luck might turn up. Am just glad got most of feet pieces back on WotG days when abby being very frequented by majority including me at the time, hope don't really need those I'm still missing.

Nearly forgot about this thread. Now that some of LS member did actually experienced this hindrance, & also kinda tested myself a bit, guess this kinda becoming a more bigger issues than I thought, especially since one would only need to get a certain range of amber lights to prevent broader loot selections, & the bonus campaign lights does add to the frustration.

I've done Heroes empyrean weapon farming both inside & outside of campaign.
From my experience, gold chest farming is still faster inside campaign even though you're also getting more blue chests.
Yes you get more blue chests thanks to cap azure.
You also get more gold chests thanks to cap pearl.
It takes less time to reach the 40~60 amber light + 230 pearl for the sweet spot of gold chests.
