    Recharge card binding error

When I logged into the Square website, it prompted me to change my address. After I did that, my VISA credit card binding payment always failed. Now I cannot recharge or renew my account. The binding error code is 601. I changed to a MasterCard credit card, but it still failed. I am sure it is not a problem with the credit card. Please help me.

This is a sensitive account issue and you need to go to their support website for this.

Should I contact the GM on the website? My credit card was previously bound to the account and I paid normally for 8 years.

you need to go here to file your ticket:
    https://support.na.square-enix.com/main.php?la=1&id=20
GMs do not provide account support, you need to contact SE through the support site.

While waiting for support, suggest use alternate method like PayPal. Got similar issues like yours, & Paypal does help, as in registering your card to Paypal, then use it as intermediary for payment.

I realize this is getting off-topic but as a buyer, I try to use paypal as much as possible. If there's a dispute with a seller, paypal offers another layer of protection before the credit card company or the bank.

Understandable. In my personal case however, it is easier to use direct debit/credit card since it's not from bank with my main account, hence can control the funds in case weird things happened. Personally only use PayPal as last resort if all direct payment options somehow got issues at the time, which on my case was when bought latest FF14 Dawntrail expansion for early access, which unfortunately forces me to temp-link my card to PayPal to conclude my purchase. Would assume the trouble back then might been from overcrowded process on their end, who knows...

Other than that, subs process fortunately still unhindered & can still use direct card payment. But yea, try PayPal just in case still gotten trouble. Also forgot to mention that I'm still using crysta for intermediary rather than direct pay for subs or additional services, but I do top up crysta using direct card payments.

Debit cards are scary to me because I only have one checking account. That's my money and if somebody somehow gets it, nobody really has a vested interest in getting it back to me. Buying something over paypal with a linked credit card means that if a company scams me or somehow doesn't give me an acceptable resolution, then I can go to paypal who can go to bat for me. If that doesn't work, then I can go to whatever bank issued the credit card and have THEM try to do something about it because it's, in a manner of speaking, their money.

This is my experience in the USA.

I mean if you lose your card or it gets compromised you just call your institution immediately and as long as you're quick about it, no harm done. But I meet so many people at the store, when I tell them to run it as credit or use an actual credit card because they get better protections that way, no one believes me and some people even hear the word "credit" and think they're going to be charged interest or something or that the transaction will take longer, which it normally doesn't. And I don't even understand why that matters to people, like they're going to forget tomorrow that they went to the store today?

But in general, if you're smart about it, and you dont click on things you shouldn't, the risks are low. Not zero of course, but low. I'm 41, I got my first cards as soon as I turned 18, and I've never been compromised. Even with all the data breaches and stuff, I still haven't been impacted in any significant way. That's not just luck, that's just being vigilant.

It's not even necessarily about being compromised. There's always shady Ebay or Facebook marketplace sellers, for example. I have a quite long-winded story that I won't bore you with about returning a scam PS3 that actually had me going down all the different layers before I had my money back.

And yeah you're right about people not understanding credit cards. Some people see a 20% interest rate and think that if they don't instantly pay off a, say, $100 charge, it will cost them $120 the next month, or even instantly. The general public's financial literacy is lacking.
