    Locked out while zoning

Hi, my main is currently unable to play. I was stuck in p. Windy mid zone for 2 days with a 3001 error when trying to log into the character.
After many chats with email support and GM I deleted one subfolder from the user folder [which ended up being my alts user data for macros and saved settings]
And was able to log in and play for about a hour. While zoning into P. Jeuno i got 3001 again.
This time I could not replicate the fix, I deleted the same subfolder, tried deleting the other subfolders, then eventually the entire user folder, none of which fixed the issue.
The entire time I was able to log in to my alt and play normally, log onto my main account with a mule and play normally.
I have ports forwarded, switched to a new router on the time period I was able to play and things were fine until it wasn't.
The issue initially started on Monday 3/3 and I was unable to correct it last night.

So while I can still play on the main account thru a mule and my alt account with no issue, my main char is unable to login and play at all.

File checks were done at each interval, showing no issue at all.
I play in the US with Tachus as my isp. There has been no functional change to anything over the last 6 months and there was nothing that I switched until last night after I was able to successfully log back onto the game and move around.

If you haven't fixed this yet, you could try logging in from a different machine. Also you could try logging in with a different internet connection like through a cellular phone hotspot.

    It's your server.

This is what I had to do, but it's such a weird workaround.
Deleting my alts folder with macros and settings that temporarily worked didn't make any sense either

Greetings and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XI Technical Forums.

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. The error code [FFXI-3001] appears when a network port used by FINAL FANTASY XI is cut off for some reason. Most of the time this occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc. If this error occurs, please try the suggestions below:

Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXI launcher icon once more and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FFXI launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

    TCP: 25, 80, 110, 443 and 50000 - 65535
    UDP: 53 and 50000 - 65535

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XI.

Note that Proxy servers and satellite connections do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.

We also suggest trying the following:

・Add "PlayOnline Viewer" to the list of Allowed Programs in the Windows Firewall.
This will allow the PlayOnline Viewer to communicate without interruption.

・Add "PlayOnline Viewer" as an exception to your security software.
※Since details and steps will differ from program to program, please check with the security software's developer for further details on how to do this.

    ・Close all startup applications.
Booting into Windows with only the minimum number of necessary programs may help the programs run without interference. To perform a clean boot on Windows 10, access the Task Manager, click
'More Details,' then the 'Startup' tab, and disable each program displayed there before restarting the device.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XI Technical Support Forums!
