Good day, adventurers!
The first version update of 2025 is nearly upon us. Before I get into the details of this month's update, I'd like to share an important announcement regarding some new game content.
Limbus updates
As we mentioned in the Freshly Picked Vana'diel + AMAN and LIVE! episode that aired last November, we are planning to make some updates to Limbus in 2025. In order to adapt the area commonly referred to as the "Sea" to everyone's current level, we will be making some major changes to the content structure and also the monsters that appear within it. We'll provide more specific details once we've finalized the content specifications, but our goal is to implement the changes in a way that make them "independent of group type."
Due to these updates, there are a couple of things that we need to share with you beforehand.
- Temporary shutdown of Limbus
In order to make the necessary revisions, we estimate that we will need several months to both develop and debug the content. Furthermore, the sheer amount of data contained within Limbus means that we must first divide everything up and then implement it into the production environment. That will prevent us from continuing to offer the current version of Limbus while we work on the update. As such, we will need to shut down Limbus from the February 2025 version update until the work is finished. This update will provide you with a place to experience all-new adventures, so please bear with us while we work on adding this new content.
Naturally, while Limbus is shut down, you will be unable to obtain any ancient beastcoins, equipment upgrade materials, or chips needed to access the content, so we're planning to provide you with new ways to obtain both the upgrade materials and ancient beastcoins. Once the revisions are complete, you will no longer need ancient beastcoins or items to take on Limbus, so there's no need for you to stockpile them in anticipation of the upcoming changes.
Moving on, I'd like to take a look at the January version update.
High-Tier Mission Battlefields
We also mentioned this back in November, but the final battle from Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, The Orb's Radiance, will be appearing as a high-tier mission battlefield. The content also includes some excellent rewards, so we hope that all of you will accept this challenge placed before you.
Ambuscade
Volume 1 features iron giants, while your opponents for Volume 2 will be mandragora.
There will be two different iron giants appearing at the same time in Volume 1: one that is resistant to physical attacks and one that is resistant to magic. If both are allowed to continue unchecked, they will build up their magical power and eventually unleash powerful spells against you. You can stop them from accumulating their magic by knocking them down, so doing so one at a time in turn will be your key to success.
The mandragora in Volume 2 are joined in the battle by citrullus and lycopodium. The citrullus is a monster based on the popular summer activity of breaking open delicious watermelons, so I recommend you bring along a Melon Slicer if you happen to own one. Once you get down to the last remaining citrullus, you will need to use an emote to finish the job, making it a good idea to register a macro like /point so you're ready when the time comes.
That covers the content of this month's version update.
Over the course of 2025, we plan to open up Besieged to even higher levels, and also add the ability to change your character's race.
Safe journeys!
