How to delete a Content ID ?

    Greetings,

I couldn't find an answer to this question online, on SE Support Center and on this forum so I guess its not possible, but still: how can one delete a Content ID?

We can only delete the characters via the Characters' selection screen (in-game), but the Content ID (slots) remains. Sure, we can unlink a Content ID from an Handle under POL, but that's not what I am looking for... Also, I haven't seen such an option under the Square Enix Account Management System website.

    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,

    B

You can't delete a content ID, and there isn't really any reason to. If you don't want to pay for it anymore, you deactivate it in your Square Enix Account. If you decide you need another content ID again, you reactivate it, rather than aquiring a new one.

Deleting a character means that content ID can be used to create a new one. You wouldn't need to aquire a new one in that situation, you just reactivate the existing one and use it to create a new character.

Deactivating a content ID is the same thing as deleting it for all intents and puproses. I can't imagine why anyone would want to "delete" one unless they had access to someone else's account and wanted make their life miserable. But I don't think having the original content ID is required to restore a deleted character, so....

If you want to stop paying for a character slot, go to your square enix account and cancel the content ID. Once you do, you will no longer be charged the $1 for that slot and it can't be used to create a character, until you reactivate it.

The only other reason I can imagine you'd ask this is you want to erase your existence from the game so you won't ever be tempted to come back. You might be able to contact support to close your account in that case. But I will caution you that i know so many people that have tried to this and regretted it later.

Just to add to this, if every content ID is deactivated, you aren't charged the base $12.95 a month either (I guess technically $11.95 + $1 for the minimum one character?) so once again, deactivation is good enough for any purposes short of wanting to make it impossible to ever come back.

They also can often restore deleted characters if you contact support, becuase they know people often regret it later lol

Yeah I have one that floats around and gets reactivated during every "Return to Vana'diel" campaign. I'm not paying for it so it's no big deal you just have to stop paying for it if you are not using it
