It's time. Legendary Jug Pets and Automaton Attachments!

This is typically how FFXI's meta works: nerf pet jobs in new content until enough time has passed and then Pet jobs get an appreciable increase in performance. This is often to prevent abuse when new content is released.

I think enough time has passed for all end-game content such that it is safe to empower pet jobs. I would like to see:

    Legendary Jug Pets:
    • Behemoth / Skormoth type
    • Bigger/Scarier Adamantoise
    • Red Morbol-type
    • NM-Chigoe

    Legendary Automaton Attachments/Frames:
    • Head/Body that provides new 2-hours.
    • Item-level skill-up attachment
    • Increased Pet ability damage, perhaps new skill chain properties?

What are your thoughts on Legendary Jug Pets and Automaton Attachments?

Am I missing something? were pet jobs recently nerfed in Sortie? That's about the only thing that qualifies as "new content."

I haven't observed this pattern you described of nerfing jobs in content and then buffing them later. Pet jobs in general have been routinely behind the curve except in some special cases where some abuse of some sort is discovered. I don't think its a correlation between the release of new content and pet job nerfs.

I won't bother commenting much on BST because I don't really have a horse in that race, but it's probably going to take more than some fancy new pet options to make BST relevant in content.

I don't think PUP is in a terrible spot right now, it has circumstances in which it can come in handy. But I've always hoped they would offer more variety by introducing more head/body equipment. Any new stuff for jobs in general is pretty unlikely right now but I certainly would not mind that. I don't really think we need a skill-up attachment. That's something that would just get used for a period of time and then it's a permanently useless spot in the attachment inventory. No particular limit has been established on this but I doubt it's infinite.

Right now I think SMN is in greater need of improvement than any of them. SMN basically had one trick up its sleeve for content and that got drastically nerfed on a content specific basis. I'm not really sure what to do with it though. I feel like its numbers could be tuned up some, though I don't want to see it end up getting nerfed afterward just because it's SMN.

Personally, I want to know what the devs or team feels about unconventional jugs? The Adamantoise (Being an actual ground king species.....) and Puks opened the door for unconventional, or "Legendary Jugs."

I kind of wish, BST got a different Jug treat every update until our "BST Bestiary" fills up a bit. Don't expect EVERY species to be a jug pet (Gnoles.....), but BST only has access to around, 35% of species from all charmable/jug families available to them. Would like for that number to at least approach 50-ish % like other MMO.

The door is technically open for BST to charm just about anything that isn't lore breaking like a DRG's pet Wyvern or something......But BST is indeed, a Dragon tamer......

Sea creatures and Undead always intrigued me.........But BST isn't an Undead or Luminians Killer. Players have indeed asked for hounds in the past. I digress.......Not to get ahead of myself.

Legendry jugs is an interesting concept. I imagine scaled down variations, or young juveniles. We are at the point in FFXI's lifespan, that players would not quit or complain on the forums if BST were walking around with a Naul or pygmy Behemoth. I think it is time.....Now or never. XI aint getting any younger.
