    Beseiged, monsters retreating

Besieged should last a set amount of time, even if there are a lot of people. Nobody wants to read "trolls retreated" after being there for a few minutes. This timer should start when there are monsters in the area, not when you get a message they are on the way or something.

It's like organizing to goto a concert, the band sings half a song and leaves. This is why people will stop going, they have to get something for waiting and going there.

Iirc, most of the time when this happens, it's because a group of players intercepted said incoming invading monsters before they reached town. Hence the "<insert Beastmen> has retreated message" early on into the Besieged event.

However, I do remember that Besieged used to last a good amount of time before we all became overpowered and started nearly one-shotting all the mobs. So I'm not sure if players being OP now is the problem in this case.

The problem with this line of thought is the first people to get there don't want to be there all day. If you want the whole experience, arrive on time.
