It also allegedly affects the odds of an item drop from Inside the Belly, with larger fish for their type having a higher chance to drop an item.

If they just made one fish the fish for contests, though, why have contests? The three players per server who really care would just fish up impossible-to-beat large and small examples of it and that would be the end of that content. Keeping it open to every large fish at least makes it impractical to blockade fishing contests, in turn making it a little less difficult to hold the only reasonable way to obtain duck rings hostage.

Besides that though... what happens to data integrity if suddenly a whole category of item that has attached data tags just doesn't one update? Let's be honest here, do you trust that not to cause some weird cascade of bugs and completely unpredictable side-effects?

So you get one by fishing and the other... what, from the mog garden? Once a day you get one stackable fish?

Maybe there should be a recipe for tuna slices that can be used most of the recipes tuna is used in now (boiled tuna head, maybe not.) You'd only be able to get one or maybe two per fish, but at least those could stack.
