    Adoulin Notorious Monsters

I know their are forced popped notorious monsters in Adoulin zones.

I would however like to forward to SE and the FFXI development team a recent in absentia felt when realizing there are no traditional notorious monsters in Adoulin zones.

There's a magical spirit of *discovery* about the existence of finding NM in a zone just existing. The world isn't the same, but as a project to implement: a few spirits of Adoulin within FFXI itself would be my request. You know: Some notorious monsters into the Adoulin wilds, just to flesh out the richness of Vana'Diel in Adoulin.

Plus: it's simple and cheap to implement because its something that's already been done before: hire a summer student to do it.

The playerbase's grips about gear and claims can be forgotten because they're sore losers, but there's something less rich, poor even, about Vana'diel not having a Leaping Lizzy to be able to find in Adoulin areas, about not having the possibility of finding anything at all.

It's a sad feeling realizing this, that this magic and wonder of Vana'diel was never implemented.

When did SE ever hire a "summer student" to make NMs for the game? And why wouldn't such people deserve a fair wage for their work? I really dislike the notion that something is "simple and cheap" because you can underpay an intern to do it.

Technically, the wildskeeper reives are NMs and they're not force pop.

Didn't read a thing I said, now did you? You just saw "summer student" and thought poor, stupid, or cheap service labour; never once thinking about the fact that FFXI and or SE might be wanting to- and be able to- invest in someone young an inexperienced. Or rather, hiring one of their children for the child's summer vacation?

You missed the point and focused on race relations, like an idiot. <.<`

Congratulations: you just deprived someone of having a future at a world classed company, and destroyed any hope of help for them and of their future families because you thought that they were being exploited instead of being given an advantage over others, more so: over themselves.

You never stopped to think that it just might be valuable to the summer student to be able to program for an MMO; not just in terms of money: but because they are a student getting to see *how* an MMO get's put together from the internal perspective. . . well done, you've made the world more poor instead of less poor.

It's simple and cheap because SE already has all of the character models and most of the labor is done, it just has to be installed and tested, not developed from scratch, which takes time.

Learn to run a company instead of being its cheap exploited labor.

I do think this was suggested or at least talked about back 10 years ago already, but I don't remember that there ever was any official remarks on it (or a proper, clear proposal for them to remark on).

I think they had some in FFXIV 1.0 Alpha at least, if I don't remember horribly incorrect-like, but I'm thinking they stopped doing that there as well?

It certainly is a fun aspect, aside from having to fight for a claim or wait for days to even see one spawn...

Regarding the "hiring someone inexperienced or such" makes me think of one of the stated reasons for reducing FFXI staff: let them work on something more modern instead of what FFXI is, and learn modern things to be able to work on modern projects. In a way it does make sense, since I don't believe anything else is being made like FFXI any longer (aside from hobbyist etc. for fun), so starting a career via FFXI right now might not be very viable.

Sure, there would definitely be valuable experiences there to be had, but teaching what they would need to know might actually make it all more costly than one might think.

It was suggested, I think they were just moving away from timed NM's because they were quite easy to monopolise.

While FFXI does still carry a certain amount of prestige within SE, they have been losing money recently, so it's an easy one to cut, I don't think you can easily shoe horn an iterm in, for a start the game is so old, yes it has been modernised, but parts of (Playonline for example) are still tethered to 25 years ago. I wonder how many development and test environments they have and how busy they are....

They also have to take care when placing higher level mobs, they can't get in the way of a player doing missions, current mobs may need to be moved, it takes a lot more planning (Plus NM mechanics, drops etc).

Ugh, starting to sound too negative, if you don't ask, you won't get, so give it a go, the worst that can happen is things stay the same

Please don't be insulting. Just because you don't like my response doesn't mean I didn't read your post. No. I read the whole thing and stand by what I said.

You missed the point and focused on race relations, like an idiot. <.<`
What in the world are you talking about? I never said anything about race or race relations. You suggested that SE hire an intern to do "easy" work. This has nothing to do with race. If you want to talk about people looking like idiots, you need to look in the mirror because I never said or suggested or implied anything of the sort.

You also claimed that this (hiring interns to make game content) has happened before but you didn't and still haven't provided any proof of this. There is nothing wrong with internships- what I take issue with is your suggestion that SE can't or wouldn't implement an idea like yours unless they could hire an intern to do it to lower the cost (i.e. to be in their budget). You also basically said it's so easy an intern could do it. Which frankly is speaking pretty low about interns- just because someone is new to the job doesn't mean they're not competent.

I agree with Dragoy here- It really wouldn't be good to put new people on FFXI, because they're going to be learning on and about outdated tech and it won't serve their future careers well. The only way it would make sense is if they planned to do a remaster.

Anyway, there was a lot of cut content in Audolin due to it underperforming. Maybe they had originally planned to put more "stuff" in those zones, but it was cut.

If you were thinking of the "it's simple and cheap to implement because its something that's already been done before" part here, I think they meant that implementing random'ish NMs around the world was done before, or at least that's my read on it. ^^

Again, I think it would not be as simple as just copy-pasting code from an area to another and change some variables.

Even if it was, it would be time off of a person who knows how to do it, to show how to do it.

I, for one, would be somewhere arount ecstatic to get to be in that position, but I like old tech, and am interested in general. I also have some experience in different programming languages and other things ICT, but I don't think they're let me do it for free even. Someone still would need to show me the ropes (okay, they could just give me a lot of time to figure it out on my own, but I digress).

    What were we talking about?

    Oh yeah!

    Taisajin for all!

I think you're misunderstanding here. I didn't say anything about how easy or hard it would actually be to implement NMs in these areas. I was only addressing the poster's bizzare statements about race and hiring interns to update the game.

Essentially why no one should take requests on these forums seriously. The circular logic based from an entitled point of view. Reinforced by their own imagination to spackle over the holes. "Yeah, just stick the kid that gets the coffee on it!"

Yes, I understood that part, which I did not quote.

I was commenting on the "happened before" part.
