I was hunting Taisaijin, if you don't know, one of the NMs that still are on a 23 to 25 hour pop since TOD, BUT this NM also has a condition that NONE of the normal taisai's have been killed as well since last tod.

It drops an item I doubt few would want, the spelunking hat which has stats

Well I had TOD and waited 23 to 24, and on hour 24 a player named Azarade comes up and just kills all the taisai and warps out. Why on earth would you do this other than to grief those that are camping it. The only reason to really go to rangemount pass these days is for the VR mission that is in the area.

I'm one of the few people that actually do want the item to use. But I guess there are people in the game that enjoy screwing other people over.

Out of curiosity, did you attempt to talk to them? (But yeah, probably "I want to watch the world burn")

(You could come to Shiva where it's way easier to get NMs like this )

I thought it was just the placeholder that needed to not be disturbed.

• It is often thought that no Taisai can be disturbed during the re-spawn period, this however is not completely true. It seems that the Taisai that morphs into Taisaijin, is the only one that cannot be killed, which will effectively reset the timer to 3 days. Or perhaps, only the possibility of the certain Taisai to be replaced will be denied.
• The "placeholder" seems to rotate through the three Taisai in the order: middle, west, east and back to the middle one. Since they do wander around, it may seem random.
• If only Taisaijin is defeated, but the next Taisai to morph is not killed during the following 24 hours, Taisaijin will spawn again, replacing that Taisai.
• Because of this, it is possible, though unlikely for multiple Taisaijin to be up at once.

Thus if you kill one but not all of them, it might still spawn, if it wasn't the "right" one.

I suppose they could have done it to reset the timer, but indeed, very uncool if they saw someone there.

Think I had it happen back in 2009 as well, when I was after the hat... yeah, likely more than once, too, since it took me ~30 fights to actually loot the hat. >.<

It's a shame that there continue to be players whose age equals their shoe size.
Any idea why this player did this? Completing a RoE, perhaps? In reality: No. It was done only to grief you.

Depending if "the college kids are home" there's the same issue with Abyssea NM's. Someone waits while invisible for the NM to pop and steals it, then hides.

Don't think there even is a RoE for something like that (that couldn't be done faster/easier somewhere else)...

Also I'm not quite 43-45 just yet. ^^;
