New Event Item "Eyre Cap" doesn't work

Steps:
1. Obtain an Eyre Cap from the Egg-stravaganza event moogle.
2. Eggquip Eyre Cap and wait for 10 sec cooldown to eggspire.
3. Open personal menu and seleggt "Items"
4. "Eyre Cap" appears in blue text along with any other usable pieces of equipment as you'd eggspect.
5. Seleggting "Eyre Cap" makes the seleggtion noise, but no eggtivity eggurs.

I can confirm same issue, that equipped Eyre cap, wait the 10s to use, select use does nothing. Does not dispense any intial egg.

Chimerawizard on the ffxiah forums points out that you can get activate the cap with the following command:

/item "Eyre Cap" <me>

I'd call it a workaround at best. The fact you can't use your mouse, keyboard's enter key, or controller to use the item is obviously a bug regardless of the ability to command it to work the same way you do when making macros for any usable item.
