Is The Drop Rate To Get The Pop Item For The Pink Flan Battlefield Broken?

Since this battlefield was introduced, the only information anyone has found to acquire the pop item, the Impish Box, is to steal from Locus Imps. Today, I stood around in Caedarva Mire with Steal+20 (and +29 later), got Imps low on HP, tried to use Steal during TP moves, and I had to give up after failing for several hours.

Is this the only way to get it? Or is there an easier method? Why introduce a new, daily battlefield, when it could take a whole day for each player to get a pop item? Is the steal rate broken? Or is there a far easier way to get this? Please share your findings here, because I would enjoy having a go at some Pink Flans, but I'm not wasting whole days on it. Thank you.

You see, the whole thing is a reference to a thing in Final Fantasy 4 where something had a really low drop rate from a monster that had a really low chance of appearing, isn't that clever?

I know this, but still, people have lives, lol. And also, they like to enjoy new content. More information would be great. I hope this isn't another Shinryu where the drop rates are so ridiculous most don't bother with it.

The running theory is that since this references a 1/64 encounter with a 1/64 drop, the success and drop rates are going to likewise be 1.56%, but we won't know until there's been time to collect more data.

I'm not sure what the thinking behind this was, but I actually actively like Final Fantasy 4 less now for having brought us to this point.

I might have got a Pink Tail when I played it so many years ago, but it took days and days of grinding. This fight can be done daily, and we're not 12-year-olds with nothing better to do. Love the nod to other games, but it doesn't need to be this literal.

I can't wait for the Final Fantasy 6 battlefield where the item you trade in determines what you can potentially win, but once you enter the fight you're charmed and can only watch your character choose random actions...

The frustrating mechanics are not the nostalgic part about the classic games.

It took most of my day to finally get this. I hope it was just me being one of the unluckiest players across all servers. I stacked up on accuracy, used Feint a lot, and I got the Imp to low HP. Didn't try to aim for any specific TP moves. Got it from behind at 4%.

Edit: I later found out how rewarding the Flan battlefield is, so while the drop rate on this isn't great, I can understand why that is.
