November Version Update

Good day, adventurers!
Fujito here.

Just as soon as it seemed like the mornings and evenings were getting noticeably cooler, I realized we're already into the month of November.

The other day, it was announced at the FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festival that the game would be receiving some new content based on FFXI. I'm looking forward to seeing what it ends up being, and as a fellow member of Creative Business Unit III that is also overseeing an MMORPG, I want to keep working hard on behalf of FFXI.

Given that FFXI is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, I've mentioned in various interviews and other outlets that it would be difficult to keep adding new content after May 2023, but since this month is the "Eleventh" month of the year, we are planning a slightly more robust version update than usual.

First of all, we'll be adding a new battlefield. As shown in the banner, the monster this time will be Flans. Our focus when creating this battlefield and the subsequent rewards was to bring a smile to the faces of everyone who loves the FINAL FANTASY series.

We'll also be implementing some of the underlying prep work such as certain game mechanics and other elements for the content where "everyone cooperates across different worlds" that I've mentioned in the past.

While this update will not have playable content for that feature, we are hard at work on crafting a special campaign that'll serve as an extension of the game's usual gameplay and also allow you to work with players from all over the world toward a common goal. Therefore, please think of us as laying the groundwork for that content with this update.

We should be able to provide an overview of this new campaign soon, so stay tuned for more information to come.

On Wednesday, November 8th, we'll be hosting a live episode of Freshly Picked Vana'diel that will focus on the version update contents, so please check it out. The North America Community Team is also planning to broadcast the show for the benefit of our English-speaking fans as well.

As we head into winter, the sudden temperature drops can make it easy to fall ill.
Therefore, please be sure to eat right and get plenty of rest so that you can continue to enjoy your adventures in Vana'diel.
