Returning Player: Where does Attack / WSD+% end and PDL+ begin?

    Hi SE,
A few of us are trying to figure out where to draw the line between Attack+ and Weaponskill Damage +% buffs and a newer offering called "Physical Damage Limit+". We know that from a logical or theoretical perspective:

There is a point at which Attack is capped and stacking more Attack buffs will not produce more damage. Theoretically, at this point, it would be more beneficial to stack equipment with "Physical Damage Limit+".

Q: If the above is true, how do we know when we've reached this point? Can there be some indication in game of this? Or perhaps a change in /check messaging for regular monsters? What about notorious monsters or event-based NMs like in Odyssey and Sortie?

Thank you for your time. Really hoping we can get some clarification here, as PDL seems to be a big component of Prime Weapons' aftermath as well.

Bumpity, bump, bump. Still hoping for an explanation here. It seems like a catch-22 to equip PDL in some slots when we don't know if we've reached attack cap? I mean, imagine someone being just 10 attack short of cap and they equip PDL+50%? How will we know we're doing something wrong?

...Anything to help clear up this mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way to tell is go out and fight mobs outside the started cities. Do this with no PDL+ and with PDL+ equipped. This will tell you your max dmg potential. When doing high level content; compare your dmg to that of the low level mobs and it will tell you if you are attack capped or not.

    LV135 Mob Def 1338 - player attack (BRD+COR) 3971 = 99.1901% More attack than defense - not capped - PDL dont work -

    LV135 Mob Def 1338 - player attack (BRD+COR+GEO) 4620 = 110.171% more attack than Defense - attack capped - PDL works -

    Lv138 Mob Def 1446 - player attack (BRD+COR+GEO) 4647 = 105.071% difference more attack than Defense - attack capped - PDL works -

    LV140 Mob Def 1530 - player attack (BRD+COR+GEO) 5103 = 107.734% difference more attack than Defense - attack capped - PDL works

LV145 Mob Def 1704 - player attack (BRD+COR+GEO) 5536 = 105.856% difference more attack than Defense - attack capped- PDL works

Just using your first example: what ratio are you using to get 99.1901%? I don't think it's 3971/1338 (player attack / mob defense). I'm confused about the point you are demonstrating, but I do see a pattern. Could you explain a bit more?

Difference between defence of mob and attack of player has to be 105%+

I used this website to calculate needed Attack against mob defence to make PDL works

    https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calcu...calculator.php

So if you have 4600~5600 or above you probably attack capped.

However T3 V25 Bosses(Estimate 9k Def) PDL works once you apply Def down(Dia2/3+Light Shot + Armor Break/Tenberal Crush, Box Step) considering you having SV songs Chaos rolls and GEO fury

Oh my goodness. This is incredible! Thank you for sharing. I noticed you said "probably". What your saying makes sense to me now!

I wonder if SE could chime in and tell us if there is some nuance to this calculation for mobs based on content level (130, 135,140) or event-specific, like Odyssey T1-T4 NMs
