I'm trying to do the assault Counting Sheep for the first time.
As far as I understand, I'm supposed to get the temp pickaxe from the qirin miner and use it at a mining point until I get something i can trade for temp imperial currency.

The temp pickaxe doesn't work at all for me when I use it from inventory with the mining point as target. Not even an acknowledgement from the server like the pickaxe animation or a text message that I know from regular mining points. It feels like the server completely ignores me trying to use it.

I've tried the 4 or 5 accessible mining points over two runs and haven't received anything in probably 300 attempts to use the temp pickaxe.

it's not a bug, you're just not doing it correctly.

You do not use the pickaxe on the mining points. you simply check them with the temp item in your inventory.

By doing so as I described I was able to complete the mission without issue. Using the pickaxes did nothing, as you described. It is working as intended.

The pickaxes in this mission don't function like pickaxes outside. You don't trade to the mining point. You just click the mining point. It should be a lot like the Orichalcum Survey mission. Wikis tell you to use the pickaxe, which could be misinterpreted.
