They purposely leave asura a problem because they profit off the transfers. it's really that simple.

They don't profit off this problem getting worse. A transfer is a transfer whether it's to or away from Asura. But people keep transferring TO it because they believe that more players = better. Which is only true up to a point, and it's a point that Asura has passed.

While I've heard recently another server has been designated as the "go to" server, I don't know who it is that's telling people where to go and why everyone's listening to them.

Well, the "who" for Asura is... pretty much all of r/FFXI on Reddit, which is also why people listen; you go to what looks like the unofficial home of the FFXI community, everyone says "yeah, try this server, it's dope", how are you going to know it's a bad idea.

Not sure who's pushing any other server though. Not sure who'd want to; what if you accidentally started a bandwagon and suddenly ended up as Asura Jr.?

Odin and Bahamut are both significantly larger than the rest, I think one of those is like the JP Asura though. The other one is the one some people frustrated with Asura have probably gone (Which is good, but all the other servers could use use some fresh blood)
