Try zoning while in monipulator form.
That will blink you back in to area but tell you that you cannot change zones while possessing a monipulator.
(Same kind of effect when you're trying to zone into an area that does not allow you to enter while on a rent-a-chocobo, like going into Ranguemont Pass or Ghelsba Outpost from a Ronfaure area. You blink black screen then reappear in Ronfaure)
But it WILL erase enmity on you and THEN you can /relinquish.
