    Counterstance and Rage defense down too harmful

    Hi SE,
    I know there are no plans to do job adjustments unless we're talking about your future all-jobs adjustment coming in the future. Could you please consider removing the defense down adjustments for abilities like Counterstance and Rage?

    Instead, their attack boosts could decay from 100% attack bonus to 50% for their duration.

    Thoughts?

    Counterstance breaks the game, it has to have a steep penalty or there would be no reason not to use it 24/7

    80% of all attacks are not only negated, but returned. Without sacrificing any gear slot. That's crazy. The penalty is too high, certainly, but if it wasn't it would be very broken.

    Right now, it's almost entirely unusable, the penalty is so high. But, there are no other things that could possibly make you weigh the decision not to use it, if instant death wasn't possible.

    counterstance should be the tank stance for MNK. It's only does anything when you have hate.

    I would suggest giving it an guard rate+ and slow+100% since you're focusing on enemy movements to counter them you aren't focused on taking advantage of every opening the enemy presents to attack. Also, since you're trying to counter their attacks you're actively trying to block the attacks in a way that better lets you turn them into attacks of your own.

    "slow+100%" would be "Stop," since your speed would be zero. 50% would he half speed.

    slow+ = haste-
    haste-100=1/2 attack speed.
    therefore slow+100 = 1/2 attack speed.

    We know this because you can overcome Ouryu's slow by stacking double march & entrust haste or SP'd double march.

    It's a pointless argument, any amount of slow makes counterstance as unusable as the defense penalty.

    It can't tank, if it can't hit and it can't hit while attacking slower than cap speed.

    Slow can be overcome though, toss another two haste buffs on the MNK than other party members and while he'll attack slower, it'll be manageable (haste+10~60).


    DEF really can't. if a mob stacks a massive pDif, you'll die when counterstance fails to counter. If you're just slow, who's pulling hate? the dead real tank? the COR who should be backturned anyway to stop TP feed while the party recovers? or in a MNK solo DD situation enmity shouldn't be an issue from the start.

    I mean, I guess you're right that is in fact how it works, but it just makes no sense, because slowing something by 50% should be half speed. Not 100%. Someone at SE didn't learn math. I sort of get why it works this way, as it simplifies the process of haivng slow and haste cancel eachother out equally, it just looks really dumb to have 100% slow not mean "lower you speed by 100% (which would be zero in normal math circles)."
