    The moment I downloaded a free VPN, I login without an issue and got out of the stuck "Downloading now..." screen. 1 minute in to actual game... R0 DC...
    If I turn off the VPN Retry Retry Retry....
    I have a second PC and sometimes I can get on without issue but after a couple minutes, DC.
    Sorry if against community standards SE Gods but just did a test I asked my friend to try to log in my alternative account and he didn't have any issue whatsoever.
    So far in this thread I know there's 3 of us from Ontario Canada but I know 2 of us for sure are completely different ISP but the problem started exact same time roughly 5PM EST.

    Thelona, or anyone else here near or around Ontario Canada? I'm curious if there's somewhere along the way with our connection we're getting blocked on the way to SE Server?

    Driving me nuts! I know that! =) I didn't get to visit my Friend Oseem today

    Nova Scotia. Roommate also having issues. Totally possible that we're batched in with you guys, making it an issue with their connection to Canada.

    It's more than an issue with Canada - my wife and I ran into this last night too, as did at least 2 other people from one of our Linkshells (on the night we were starting an Aeonics run *of course*). We're in New Hampshire, aka East Coast US and the two of our linkshellmates with the problem are in PA and (I think) FL.

    She got hit with the issue first after zoning in Port Bastok. I was able to zone in fine and was able to zone into my Mog House with no trouble.

    The trouble started when I shutdown to let her try my computer. She couldn't get in on my machine either, and when I tried to log back in, I wasn't able to make it in at all. The primary error was POL-0011 but a few times I made it in further and got other time out errors.

    We tried a bunch of suggestion, from rebooting the machines, to rebooting the router, to running via my work VPN and nothing made any difference. From talking with a linkshell-mate who was having the same problem, I was finally able to get in by disconnecting from my normal internet connection entirely and connecting via a Personal Hotspot from my iPhone.

    I did try to connect with both the original internet connection and the Hotspot tether active and that didn't work at all - same POL-0011 error. Removing the original connection and going soley via the Hotspot seems to be a requisite.

    We were able to play for 3 hours on the hotspot, zoning several times with no issue.

    When I tried logging in this morning via the regular connection, the problem was still there though - and, fortunately, the tethering option seems to still resolve the issue.

    I tried logging into FFXIV on the normal internet connection as well, just to see and wound up getting three errors with connecting right after entering my credentials. Attempt #4 there worked though and I was able to log in fully with no further problem.

    Interestingly, logging into my Square-Enix account on the website here so that I could post this message gave me two immediate timeout errors when I tried to put the One Time Password in. Attempt #3 worked there though.

    As extra info, our regular ISP is Atlantic Broadband, and there have been no other internet problems apart from Square-Enix stuff. I can log into a variety of other games and websites with no problems at all. It's just SE that seems to be failing to make the connection.

    I am also having this issue. My provider is Metronet (fiber 1GBPS) and I live in Michigan. Got this issue midday on 5/23. I could log into some mules but not my main character. The furthest I would get is downloading data for logging in with the black screen, and then get a POL error and either get booted back to the lobby or completely back to POL where I would also have issues saying there was no internet connection. I also attempted to log in through my mobile hotspot through AT&T with no login success, so the provider doesn't appear to be an issue.

    I can conform its not a zone based problem. cuss when i zoned on a mule that was holding a stable connection with no VPN i black screen and was data downloading

    Cannot fully login. Login process times out during random parts of the process.

    Steps:
    Everything was working normally for most of the day. (I have 1 account, 9 chars) My bazaar mule had been logged in all night. I switched to other chars and did event stuff and choco-digging and inventory shuffling between my chars. Did an hour of Lilith HTBF with linkshellmates, then a couple hours of CPing in Moh Gates. THEN...DISASTER!

    I activated my Warp Ring to warp to my home point in Port Bastok (HP near mog house) and the screen never got past "Downloading Data" with a black screen. After waiting about 10 minutes I killed the Playonline process through Windows' Task Manager because there was no other way to shut down. After that, I couldn't log completely in.

    Every step of the login process, starting from "checking playonline version" to "checking password" to "getting friend's list" to actually gaining access to my character (any character), was likely to timeout and require me hitting "retry". Of course, those steps in the login process when "retry" wasn't available just failed after timeout and I had to start all over again.

    What I tried:
    1. Check Files, which btw, also had timeout issues when it needed to connect to SE to check version, etc. No problems found when it did finally work.
    2. Restarted modem, router, my laptop.
    3. Tried logging in on my husband's desktop since his character hadn't been bumped out like mine. Unfortunately, not only could I not log in with my character, I had to log out his character and now he too had the dreaded SE server timeout issues.
    4. Tried logging in via a VPN. Did not work.
    5. I have no other programs running when I play FFXI.
    6. I have no trouble with internet access for anything else.

    After literally 2 1/2 hours of troubleshooting (and my husband getting suggestions from someone else on our linkshell having the same issues), I was only able to log in via a Hotspot point on his phone. And connecting was as normal - no timeout issues or delays. However, THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION; it's only a workaround. And from what others are posting, this workaround may not work tomorrow.

    i too am having the same problem since yesterday, live in canada and had no connection problems what so ever.
    it started with my main r0ing a few times then when we got out of ambu we went to get new ki and i ro mid warp and now is stuck in downloading data. meanwhile on my laptop my other toon was fine.
    my main kept getting 3001 3201 1160 and 0011 network errors
    ive reset my modem since im hardwired in and 1gb speed. restarted pc, then i lost my other account after the modem reset that account same errors

    i have gotten back to char select screen after many errors popping up no connection no content id no mail service etc but all i get is a downloading data then 3001 no connection
    1 of 5 alts on that account has gotten in no r0ing etc can walk talk etc but once i log it out and try another back to the same problem
    i have also tried hotspotting my pc to my phone to no go

    Can the mods (SE) of the forum give its customers, (paying customers) a status on this, a simple, "We are looking into this, " We are aware of the connection issues" etc,

    I have been running into various connection errors since last wednesday. I tried creating a new character last night.. she could log in and run around just fine. It's not on my end.

    Issue just started for me last night.

    Do we know a list of IP's we can use to test this? Like to run a trace route? I'm not having any issues with anything else (Netflix, youtube, other games, etc etc) and I've not changed any of my configurations (and I've rebooted all the hardware involved). I'm pretty sure the issue is outside of my house and likely not like, on my block since it's only FFXI, but it's hard to be sure without being able to do a trace and see how far it gets before running into troubles.
