Final Fantasy XI Windows Install Download Page URL flagged as not secure?

Thread Title: Final Fantasy XI Windows Install Download Page URL flagged as not secure?

Details: Not sure if thats just me but Final Fantasy XI Windows Install Download Page URL (here: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/dow...stall_win.html) it have no lock icon but a triangle with an exclamation mark instead which label it as insecure. Also I am unsure why but the cookie usage message that appear at the bottom is in japanese (I think?) while for say, if I go to ffxiv forums it would be written in the proper user language. (french in my case) Is that because of http instead of https?

Why would a download page need a SSL server? No need for it to be secure, you're not submitting any real information to it.

If you look at the actual download links, they are on a secure server (https).

Ok yea that make sense for the download links hadnt looked but its still weird that the page isnt displaying a secure lock as for say: https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.co...oad/?lng=en-us XIV download page does have it. Anyway still wondering but yes the download links do have https thats a valid point.

The web page is not on HTTPS, but the download links are..

Despite the fearmongering by browser makers etc. a web page that is entirely static and doesn't create, collect or send new data really doesn't have to be https. Despite this in the future web browsers are starting to block non https sites by default.

Because that website is old. keke

SE used Norton's software on their FFXI web server until someone removed something from that website (last year I think). As long as you use Chrome (eating more RAM) or Firefox, don't provide your account information and you will be fine.

Even though, I lost my account to RMT by using Microsoft's Internet Explorer after a fresh Windows 7 install many years ago.
