Can someone explain this too me... (Confused on Thread placement)

I just got finished browsing this, Something interesting happened:

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you for alerting us to the troubles you may be facing. Your best option, at this point, would be to contact our Support Center via http://support.na.square-enix.com for any billing questions; the Game Master Staff and Community Staff cannot address these types of inquiries via the Forums due to privacy reasons.

I am moving this thread to our Technical Support Forum so they can better review the issue.

    Thank you for your understanding,

    -Senior Game Master Jhanaka
It says he moved it to Technical issues. This was a Post made by a SGM in this thread:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...iddle-of-April

Now. This same thread was just locked for this following reason:

    Genzy,

As noted in the general forum rules, this forum is for the discussion of technical issues, and we are unable to assist with any account-related issues. This includes questions regarding overdue fees. For assistance with account-related issues, please contact us directly through the SQUARE ENIX Support Center.

The SQUARE ENIX Support Center can be found at this link:
    SQUARE ENIX Support Center

Where do posts like these belong? The SGM Says he moved it to Technical support, while the other GM closed it for being in Technical support.

Please help, I'm getting mixed signals.

They are putting their fingers in their ears. Really quite pathetic.

Yeah kind of disappointing. Instead of announcing that there was an error and that they're working on fixing it (which is what I'm guessing has happened) they're trying to pretend that there is no problem.

The fact is that we don't have a specific forum to deal with account-related issues (for privacy reasons). As such, Jhanaka was asked to move it to Technical Support as a way for the support reps to see it. While the support rep did close the thread, before doing so they directed everyone that is affected by the issue being reported to contact the Support Center as that is the only way that we can assist players with account-related issues.

I apologize for the mixed messaging, but the fact remains that anyone affected with account-related issues needs to contact the Support Center as we cannot publicly disclose personal information.

understood, however a place where system-wide account related issues can be reported so players can watch for it would be appropriate. I still remember when all the attacks were going on blocking access to FFXI a couple years ago it took ages to hear anything about what the actual problem was, and accounts were being affected on a massive scale. It was virtually impossible to inform Support that you were one of those affected by the issue as well. A forum line for those types of reports, from players AND SE would be appropriate, but there needs to be some control so we don't have 700 "I can't log on" threads going.

on a related note, as a "welcome to the forum" type of thing, can you add an instruction to search existing threads before posting? it is getting VERY hard to find issues that I have addressed due to all of the essentially duplicate threads posting; no doubt it is for you Community Reps/Moderators as well.

I'd have to agree. I can understand why specific account-related stuff should not be asked and the like -- but how about general questions.

Like, for example, one I would've had if I knew where to ask it about prior month fees during "free April" and when they would be billed (they were billed April 1).

I can understand privacy issues for specific accounts, but there might be the occasional general question out there too.
