(Sorry, long......)
Appreciate the bumps folks.
Personally, was looking at the bestiary again.......
https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Bestiary
....and was like "Man, we have a TON of untapped potential here with the master of beast.
There are some awesome candidates here. I know a lot of ppl want the casters (Hecteyes, Panopts, etc), the self-skill chain and magic burst potential there is very intriguing. Some inquired about legendary jugs (Could they simply do something like SMN 2 hour for a $hit ton of damage? Maybe Catch them like in past FF?), Like the sound of legendary jugs. Personally, I am looking outside of the current BST ecosystem.
Said this a million times, but Puks are categorized as Dragons in the wikis. So, BST can actually tame a dragon (Chimera -esque, but a dragon nonetheless). Beastmen BST also have Wyverns. Imo, BST ecosystem (or Killer Effects) can be expanded beyond beast, lizards, vermin, plantoids, aquans, amorphs, and birds. Hounds, are beast. Phuabo, are beast. Dancing weapons are beast. Dragons, are also beast. While not in the actual beast family, but as being a beastly animalistic monster entity. Shoot, some BST mobs can tame the players......
However, I do feel there are worthy potential jugs within the current ecosystem that should be released. BST is the only reason I look forward to playing XI. From 1-99, I sub BST. BST & SMN are the only two jobs I play seriously. They are both summoners lol.
(Speaking of SMN, add some new summons too please......"Rhazowa is the frozen continent lying due north of Quon" https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Midgardsormr)

Chaos is described in game as a terrestrial avatar. Therefore, we should get it.(Speaking of SMN, add some new summons too please......"Rhazowa is the frozen continent lying due north of Quon" https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Midgardsormr)![]()
Didn't want to create another thread but would like to see a Scorpion jug before XI shuts down if possible. Name it Stinger^^
A caster such as Hecteyes and Panopts would be neat too. It would add the addition of MB with BST + Pet SCs which could help BST move up the latter a bit.
Just feel XI is presumed to be at the end of its' lifespan, and BST have not reached its' full potential between jugs and Beast Affinity capping stuff like the Sabotender. ??? Needles would be a game changer at 119 if they move its' Ready move dmg cap for that move past 10,000.
What jugs would other BST like to see personally?
I don’t play BST… yet, but this seems neat.
FFXI isn’t shutting down for at least 8-9 more years I suspect.
I would expect to see SE crumble before FFXI itself would crumble.
Of course that’s just my opinion.
I made this post/image in 2021: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/t...l=1#post635455
I need to update this list and remove the pets SE added since then. My guess now is that only 5-6 of these pets need new versions for SE to completely remove Beast Affinity. This is my hope, anyway!
So, if I have to pick a new pet, it would be: Scorpion.
If I can hope for something: Replace Beast Affinity with Pet Diffusion
If I have a genie with a magic wish: Legendary pets, like Behemoth, Botulus, Wyvern, Malboro, Hydra
I guess we can always dream...

I know devs may not be looking at dead job threads in 2024. However, I found it interesting that Beastmaster actually has one of the ground King species as a jug pet.....*Hint, Hint*
https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Tyrannotaur
So, this is my last post on this section until some type of development occurs, because it is getting kinda spammy lol.
Anyway, I did some math.
Out of the families BST can charm (Amorphs, Aquans, Beast, Birds, Dragons, Lizard, Plantoids, and Vermin), only 33 out of 93 are jug pets. Thus, only 35% of those combined families are available to BST.
……My request, is to simply cram release sensible creatures as jugs in an update. So, an update that will nearly finish the BST Jug bestiary.
Some context however…….Nearly, because I do not expect Hydra or Naakuals to be jug pets, as cool as that would be lol………… (Context.....Also Wyverns are Dragoon pets to be fair).
How stuff like Bees, Marids or Scorpions not being jugs is insane…..there are so many just chilling on the sidelines. Shame.
In MMO like WoW or GW2, the ratio of tamable is much better. WoW has an entire encyclopedia, as More than half of GW2 wildlife appears to be tamable (Juveniles).

Not everything in those lists is charmable. Are there any Wyrms that can be charmed? I don't think so.
There isn't some obligation that if a monster can be charmed, a jug pet must be made for it.
I'm not saying they shouldn't add jug pets- I'm just saying you're not exactly using ironclad logic here. You also can't really compare FFXI to other games. The roles of the classes can be different, their effectiveness can be different (and isn't really easy to compare), etc.
